Huawei and ZTE will not build 5G infrastructure in Down Under. The UK is concerned for security, too. The US already has banned Huawei from bidding for software government contracts.

While I use a Huawei P9 lite myself, I think them all are right, because:

Under Chinese law, companies must co-operate with the intelligence services. Analysts therefore warn that equipment produced by firms such as Huawei and ZTE could be compromised.

However, I am quite certain that this is the case, in this way or any other, for US producers as well.

Since you cannot be certain about the good willingness of any other state, you might never want to invest trust into your hardware as long as you have not build it - from scratch and down to the last chip! - yourself. How to keep secrets in the digital age becomes more and more an art that seems to be in vein.

Butler, where is your jihad when we need it? :O:

Going by past track record of Chine I can't say I blame them and I'd certainly add Russia to the list as well.

The US, prior to Trump's occupation of the Oval Office, had also banned ZTE form the US due to serious security concerns; ZTE took a huge hit and China feared the company might fold; China made a USD $500 Million investment in a project in Asia that would, by sheer "coincidence" had involvement by the Trump Group and would bear Trump's name on the finished edifice(s); by sheer "coincidence", Trump overruled the ban and re-allowed ZTE to operate in the US, over the strenuous objections of the US intelligence community and some senior members of the GOP...

Funny how that all "coincidentally" worked out, isn't it?... :hmmm:
