View Full Version : US preacher asks followers to help buy fourth private jet

A US televangelist has asked his followers to help fund his fourth private jet - because Jesus "wouldn't be riding a donkey".

Jesse Duplantis said God had told him to buy a Falcoln 7X for $54m (£41m).

He added he was hesitant about the purchase at first, but said God had told him: "I didn't ask you to pay for it. I asked you to believe for it."

Although preachers owning private jets is not unusual, this particular appeal has caused controversy.

What nonsense of the pastor to buy a private jet.:o

It concerns me that the money my father had worked hard for all his life might be given away to one of these churchy swindlers by my mother as she gets more senile. I wish there was a way to have more control over her landline and her cable TV. She'll trust what anybody in a suit says over what I say. lmao

I did try that M&M diet though. lol

It's been a while since I read the Bible, but I seem to remember that Jesus did ride a Donkey. I certainly don't remember Jesus asking people to give him money :hmmm:

Jesus also didn't use his religion as a business model to scam millions from fools.:03:

I went down that same road with my mother. She gave away thousands before I finally got her checkbook away from her. We still get a mailbox full of junk mail because of it.

This whole "Jesus wouldn't ride a donkey" business, one question pops up: Did this preacher suggest he is Jesus? Oh dear me.

I have long since stopped to differentiate between Christian mysticism, and Zen/Ch'an masters.

https://www.plough.com/en/topics/culture/holidays/easter-readings/merchandising-truth-an-easter-reading

This "preacher", all the other word-enriched television-evangelical supermen, should be reminded of Matthew 6:6 : "When you pray, go into your room to your Father who is in the secret place." The temple is our inner heart where we pray a prayer of silence, but a reply we only may hear when there are no other strange guests inside, for that would mean we leave our soul occupied with what is not the essence.

Their audience of course should be reminded even more pressingly of this. Leave the showacts to Las Vegas. And churches compare to the real temple like Disney land to reality.

The wordlessness of Zen, the metaphorical interpretation of the new gospel by Christian mysticism - where is the difference? I see none.

Meister Eckhart again:
"Indeed, if a man thinks he will get more of God by meditation, by devotion, by ecstacy, or by special infusion of grace than by fireside or in the stable - that is nothing but taking God, wrapping a cloak around his head and shoving him under a bench. For whoever seeks God in a special way, gets the way and misses God, who lies hidden in it. But whoever seeks God without any special way gets him, as he is in himself."

And Lao Tse:

The tao that can be spoken,
is not the eternal tao.
The name that can be named,
is not the eternal name.

Sky proves that all atheist are not the same just like all Christ followers are not the same. I was also shocked with the news that Jesse is seeking $54 million dollars in funds to purchase a jet plane )of which he already has (4) planes.

It is the love of money and the love of the world (lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh) that is driving this preacher Jesse Duplantis to seek this venue to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ using a $54 million dollar jet that seats 8 passengers and three crew. His preacher friend Kenneth Copeland also has the same problem. They are of the same ink ...

The good Lord gives discernment to those that seek it .., I for one do not follow these evangelist.

Birds of a feather flock together, but must I remind you not to judge Christ followers or diabolical, agnostic, atheist for their faith, but for their fruit. :yep:

This was a great explanation of tele-evangelists. There is a huge difference in true believers and those like these tele-evangelists. Sadly, if they bought this idiot 3 jets already, they are likely to buy him the forth as well.

Nice job of pointing out the differences. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Praying is for the common people. Televangelists want the cash up front.

This guy is apart of the blight on modern Christianity called the prosperity gospel, also known as the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success. It's basically a pyramid scheme with the preachers at the top. It prays on the gullible and the desperate. It's a scam. Of course they can claim it works because they are at the top. Scumbags.

I use to be Pentecostal (belief in the days of Pentecost as written in the Book of Acts) ... then about ten (10) years ago I ran into a phony preacher named Todd Bentley at a (suppose to be) healing revival in Florida.

I would stay up late and watch him live on TV on what was then the God TV channel (now gone due to divorce and lies in the family) then one day in July 2008 ABC TV asked him to prove that he was healing people. They couldn't find and he couldn't produce even three (3) people that could verify any healing had taken place.

I went click and snapped out of it ... changed church to a small community church and i've been resisting these false prophets ever since.

If Satan couldn't deceive you he wouldn't try :yep:

Serious, no missionizing meant by me, this just has proven to be so very useful. I knew the author for some time, until he chased me away :) and said I should do my own thing. The result then was that I ran a changing group teaching daily meditation, every morning, for over ten years. Many of them were dissapointed former church-Christians: Protestants and Catholics alike, also "apostates" from ritualised Buddhist formats.

Take note of the customer feedbacks - they are true, imo at least.

The first was meant and written as a book, and has a structure that reflects that. The second is a collection of some talks he held and that were collected by his disciples. I think you would like it, since it is "culture-free" and focusses not on what separates traditions, but focusses on what they have in common. They are essentially all what is left of my former "spiritual library", almost all other books have been traded, given away, got lost and never felt missed. Just a handful of books survived my book burning. :D Count them by the fingers of two hands.

Its also a kind of drastic read that leaves little room for evasion and foul excuses.

Just an invitation. If you feel like it, ignore it and forget it. I have recommended these books many times over the past 25 years or so. I think it is hard to find any better on Zen - and Christian mysticism. They costed me most of my Buddhist friends during university times, and were not red to the end by most. Imposters are nothing that is limited to the Christian tradition - Buddhism suffers from this plague as well. And most believers hate you if you rip the masks off their idol - Christians and Buddhists alike. Most people do not want truth. They want reassuring of that what they have chosen to believe in brings them the reward they demand. They are barterers, and tourists seeking exotic mind adventures.

Nothing holy in rites and rituals, nothing like holy men and adorable scriptures; no divinity that could be thought out and expressed. All what is needed - everybody has it within himself already, if only he would know. Nothing to be gained, nothing to be lost. You cannot get enlighted, you cannot make enlightenment, you cannot gain and win enlightenment. Nothing more to say there, so why all the lots of talking, doing, wondering?

There is just one truth, the term implies there cannot be different truths - where that appears to be the case, all but one must be wrong, truth knows no plural. Whether one names it Christian mysticism, Ch'an or Zen - how could that matter?

The followers of this priest have probably been subjected to subliminal meanings, thus under the limit of consciousness, and have become mentally exploited.
