View Full Version : Targets keep unlocking in UZO/periscope

I'm using GWX.
Whenever I lock a target whilst in UZO or periscope, after a few seconds or so, it unlocks. This is obviously very annoying when trying to infer target parameters such as speed and range. Especially speed is impossible to do using orthodox methods (the in-game tools in UZO and periscope).
Is this a known problem? Is there a possible fix?

if the distance to the target is too big or you are in rough seas and you disabled the periscope stabilization , the target will unlock pretty fast .

yes, the target unlocks if the distance is too great. The same problem exists in SH4 and 5. There is no fix for it. However, you would never shoot at those distances anyway.

Lock is unrealistic
What is "unrealistic" is having one person (you, or me) run every position in the U-boat at the same time. In reality, the man on the periscope (or UZO) would be keeping track of the target while calling out range or bearing, while a second person would note the range and bearing, while a third would enter the range and bearing . . .
So all the lock is doing in taking the place of the man on the periscope (or UZO) in keeping it aimed at the target.

hi PaleBlueDot,
Open the Sensors.dat (with s3d)--> Periscope node-->SensorData and set at PreciseRange and MaxRange the values that you wish your scopes-uzo to stay locked

Hi, makman94.
I like to play the game as realistic as possible. Though I don't like the periscope unlocking all the time, if it is realistic, maybe I should keep it?
I'm not quite sure.
Thanks anyway!
