Well, here we go again. Another shooting in a high school, this time in Maryland. Great Mills High School is just the latest scene of another tragic school shootings. Blaine Gaskill, the resource officer at the school engaged the shooter, identified as Austin Wyatt Rollins, age 17. Resource officer Gaskill and Rollins exchanged gunfire and the shooter, Rollins was fatally wounded. 2 students were shot and injured, one critically.

I initially wasn't in favor of armed officers in the school but Ofc. Blaine Gaskill acted quickly and decisively to stop the attack and may well have saved a number of lives. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

I'm sure this incident will reignite the debate on the merits of trained, armed resource officers and their value.

Blaine Gaskill, a resource officer who also serves as a SWAT team member, rushed to the hallway where Rollins was, and the two fired at each other.

The officer wasn’t hurt, but his bullet struck Rollins.

Rollins was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died at about 10:40 a.m., according to St. Mary’s County Sheriff Timothy Cameron.
