Hi all, no noob to Silent Hunter here (been playing since SH2) I'm wondering how to properly install some more music, maybe some gramophone packs, before I screw up. I just found the actual gramophone file and luckily didn't put anything in the regular music file.

I just recently had to reinstall everything and it's such a hassle that I don't want to have to go through it again. I lost a career into late 1941, so right now, while it's 1939 again, I want to make sure I'm set up for the long haul.

Is it as easy as placing .ogg files in the gramophone file? I'm running steam GWX 3.0, 16km atmosphere, no medals, open hatch, VIIC41, and integrated orders. That's all.

Also the standard music that comes with GWX always skipped the second song in the list unless I skipped the first. Then the third song seemed to cut off early. And after two years of playing GWX, for the first time tonight the music stopped playing and nothing I could do in game would make it start again. Weird.

Anyway, some fresh music and sounds would be awesome. So any help would be much appreciated. I did search around quite a bit already for answers. The biggest reason I'm joining up here is to be able to search directly on the forums again. I've been lurking here for quite a few years now and come here a few times a month for strategies and mod help. Y'all are great; keep it up. It takes a special kind of person to appreciate games like these.

Hi poseidonlost

It's easy to install gramophone music.

Look in Downloads - Silent Hunter 3 - Sound FX Mods. Some good music from the war period for good atmospheric effect.

You can use JSGME to install them for easy ability to change music OR better still, use Sh3Commander to do it auitomatically for you.

You can use a program like audacity to adjust the sound level of each song so they are all even in loudness.

Welcome to SubSim, I've added links below to some of my music. Oggvorbis is the most stable music format to use with the game.

Mixing OGG files with MP3s doesn't do well with the player. Best is to have them in the same format.
