Greeting everyone on the Forum

Today I made from dvd a fresh install of SH5 and updated it with SH5_1.02 This vanilla SH5 worked well under UPLAY. Now I installed TDW’s NewUi 7-4-2 without problems (following THEBERBSTER instructions ) and with JSGME I copied the mod into the game. After clicking on the launcher I could not get the game started although the SH5 image was on the screen. UPLAY now asked for a directory and started after that to download its own version of the game, I ‘m afraid this is a not-modable version.
What I have to do now? What would be the right procedure to start a new? I have been playing this game for nearly 3 years now always in a very well modded version (otherwise it isn’t playable).

Can somebody help?

Hi W
Very strange problem you have.
I take it you mean v1.2
Start your game from the SH5.exe.
Run this as an administrator.

Hi THEBERBSTER

Thanks very much for your interest and help and you too Cyborg322. I think something was wrong with my SH5 updater or with the way I tried to update. Now I made again a fresh install following the instructions under Post #5 and Post #74 of the SH5-TUTORIALS meticulously and now the game started up. Using JSGME I enriched SH5 with TDW’s NewUi and other mods and all went well.

In the SH5.exe under Compatability I also clicked on the box: Disable display scaling on high DPI settings as sometimes with a fresh start the game keeps hanging on the INTRO.

If Uplay starts installation all over, it might be a false-corrupt files issue.
To explain, Uplay thinks your mod has corrupted the directory and it's installing it over again.
Very strange by the way. Have you tried starting the game before applying the mod?

Hi W
Disable the mod and see if the stock game will load.
With windows 10 and SH5 you should not need to run in any compatibility mode.
Check that your gpu is setup for Silent Hunter games.

Do not install your game in the Program Files (x86) directory as it has restrictions in it which can affect your game.
Unistall your game through the Control Panels Program and features.
Follow these instructions.

On the dvd select the custom installation setup as this will allow you to setup on any drive and in your own game folder.
If you are going to use The Wolves Of Steel mega mod The Wolves Of Steel Mega Mod (TWOS) By vdr1981 > Highly Recommended For All SH5 Players (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=210703) then you also select German language as well.
Use a path like C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5

Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
This should not be a problem with SH5.

Indeed. I think something was wrong with my SH5 updater or went wrong with the way I I tried to update. Now I made again a fresh install following the instructions under Post #5 and Post #74 of the SH5-TUTORIALS and all is well now. Game works all right.
