Hi sr50
Silent Hunter 4 and 5 are compatible with Windows 10.
Silent Hunter 3 is not compatible with Windows 10 and needs Windows 7 compatibility mode.
SH3 may also need high DPI settings to be overridden as well.
All versions should be run with the gpu settings.

These are the only games I play and have experience of.

Dangerous waters also works, with a few changes. :Kaleun_Salute:
Good old Sub Command also works fine.

Adding to what TheBrebster is saying, I find that playing the NVidia Control Panel settings with "Fullscreen" done by "Display" is also working with SH3 and SH5, and it should be less loading work for the GPU.
All SH series are playable in Win7, Win8 , Win10, but some of these games require special setups that are explained in the stickies in the specific game sections.
Shells of Fury (You don't know this? Oh, you should...) is playable in all WinOS but has no widescreen support, you will have to play it in 4:3, the 16:10 setting in-game doesn't work or is not suitable for 16:9 resolutions (or yes? Anyone welcome to say how...)
SH1 (recommended: Commander Edition 1.31), Aces Of the Deep, Fast Attack and other DOS sub games are all playable in WinOS via Dosbox and D-fend reloaded frontend.
Dangerous Waters should work in all WinOS or I will turn to be very angry...Take a range from more than 1000 miles away from me...
Cold Waters, Crash Dive are modern sub games playable under DirectX 11 and Win10 without problems, and even under smartphone OS.
Happy new year
