Sh4 help

I've had sh4 since it came out. played it off and on.
Been a long time.........

started with SH4 and went to 1.4 then got u-boat mission 1.5
All seem to be giving me the same problem which is,

1) very inaccurate torps even on 'Easy' Level

I dont remember having such a problem. Today I hit a destroyer and the front was submerged and headed for repair at 2 knots. I sent 3 torps at it while trying to hit another destroyer that was on me. Missed, missed and missed again.
The damaged ship was > 700 yards away. I watched 3 torps(birdseye view) go in front of him and behind him. It makes no sense to me. Never had such issues.

My system has win 7
Amd 8350-8core
Radeon R9 285
16gig ram
DX11

I got Jsgme and tried a few mods
Scaf (hoping to help with bad torps)
RUIM 1.0
Green lamp
Mini-Chorno
Max optix for TMO
XVIII campaign

They loaded in Jsgme but none work. After I unloaded them and the !backup and !nstlogs are empty. A good thing I read.

2) The mods are not working
Any idea what the problem may be?


I installed Jsgme in steam and the mod folder in SH$.
c:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Mods

Where did I go wrong??

1. Inaccurate torps: Are you using auto targeting or manual targeting?
If you're using auto, you may have not been properly locked on after firing at the other destroyer. If you're using manual, then practice, identify your mistake, correct. Hang in there, you'll get it.
2. Mods not working.
In win7, the game's directory is important. If the game is in the "Program files (x86)" directory, the mods won't work. Someone who knows more about the matter can explain why. As for me, I have no idea. Try uninstalling the game, then re-installing in it's own directory, or something like "Games."
You may have also gotten the dreaded double directory. For instance "Greenlamp/Greenlamp/data..." The mods won't work if this happens. It's an easy fix, just remove the extra directory.
In your mod list, I also noticed in your mod list you have "MaxOptics for TMO." That mod either won't work, or corrupt the game unless TMO is installed. Be sure to read any documentation that comes with mods. Mod order is important.

On the torpedoes: make sure to open the tubes before firing. Otherwise, you end up with a delay, which can throw off your aim.

I think your problem is the SCAF mod and incompatible mods.
Scaf (hoping to help with bad torps) Which version of SCAF?
The SCAF mod uses a particular reference point on the target that you need to use with the stadimeter.
It also needs the correct version of the MaxOptics mod to patch SCAF.

I assume you are using manual targeting as SCAF would be a bit useless with auto.

Incidentally this mod is incorrect for SCAF Max optix for TMO as you do not have TMO.

i had TMOwtw
I read that TMO is advanced and I don"t need harder. So I will drop TMOwtw and the associated mods.

I got the mods in proper folder now and some work.

UIM 1.4AND
Mini-chrono. That stop watch gets on my nerves ..

Need to find some not so advanced mods now.
My son bought me sniper elite 5 and Napoleon total war for xmas. I will have to break from SH4 to play those soon

sh4 1.5 only one resolution? Omg.. my eyes.. i can't see things that tiny anymore.

I forgot about opening torp hatches. Q key? thanx Razark that will speed up my shots.
I was using automatic. I locked in on the ships, very careful to do that proper.
I don't remembering missing this much years ago. But the majority of torps miss now, on easy level.
Opening hatches helped

I need to try manual targeting but that will take some time
