I believe that the US, nay, the entire civilized world needs to take immediate action concerning a dastardly plot. Think of the children

But first, lets establish an understanding

1. This is the season, we in the US, call Christmas -- fact

2. It is traditional during Christmas to exchange gifts -- fact

3. It is also traditional that these gifts are wrapped -- fact

Then why are manufacturers allowed to market products in packages that are not rectangular!!!!!!

How are we supposed to wrap them :wah::wah::wah::wah:

I don't care how trendy your product is, put in a box... a rectangular box.

Not a Scalene triangle, not a Trapezoid, neither a Nonagon nor a Dodecagon. And for the love of all that we hold sacred, nothing spherical or with any curves

A rectangular box. That's all that I am asking for. A little mercy from the manufacturers.

It is time to take a stand against this insidious practice. :yep:

If necessary I will take it to the US Supreme Court!

(yes I was wrapping Christmas presents last night)

Simple solution: Put said misfit item in a box and proceed to wrap said box thus problem solved.

If no boxes available use card to make box

I actually started using the shipping box as the box to be wrapped just for that reason.

I have a stress free Xmas every year since I dumped it. :03:

Over 15 years now where I treat it as any other normal day, give Xmas a miss. :smug:

Platapus, get with the times. They come in all sizes and colors. Drop gift in, tape top closed, done. It's a Christmas miracle. :D

I'm with Steed. Xmas? Its just another Monday...

... and I have a keen dislike of Mondays... :D

As far as the wrapping goes, I also agree with Platapus. However, I wish to add the frustration of having to assemble some of the presents, usually with unintelligible instructions, missing/damaged parts, or both. Because I had developed an early facility for sussing out and assembling unassembled objects, I spent a good part of my time as a kid around Xmas assembling other people's gifts; my mother used to farm me out: "Oh, your gift needs putting together? My son would be glad to do it for you..."... (Always without my prior knowledge or consent.) ...

So, lets start a movement: no non-rectangular packaging and nothing that requires assembly...

Not really, I don't have the money to wast on commercial BS rammed home telling people to spend money they do not have. Around here I have noticed how people get nasty, rude and act like morons because Xmas must be obeyed. Shops hate me because I don't fall for the seasonal BS. Shops don't give a stuff about people as long as they spend spend spend and come the new year oh how are we going to pay the bills. Simple you do not spend money you do not have you morons.

I rest my case...

That can be a bit harsh when you have grandkids over for Christmas. A little hard to treat it as any other normal day. :03:

Reminds me of a story my boss told me about what this toy store worker told him:

Late in the afternoon on xmas eve just before the shop closed, a man came running in desperately looking for a pressie for his son, and asked the worker for help. After a few fails and high pitched "no!"s as the worker looked at overtime, they settled on a hockey stick. Fine. The guy working there asked if the man wanted it wrapped in gift paper and the man replied
"Oh, that would be nice but... can you wrap it so it doesn't look like a hockey stick?"

Sure thing, the guy fetched a saw and cut the bloody thing in two, wrapped it in paper and the man was so shocked he paid and left with the gift. Ho ho flippin ho.

Fact: you are right on most of the things you mentioned.

Fact : I think you need a good drink as part of attitude adjustment therapy. :03: I think the holidays have you down and therefore, you need a snifter or 2 of a good single malted Scotch. I was going to mention having a good single malted scotch drink but in your case, keep the whole bottle. On second thought, there is a 5 cent deposit on the empty. :haha:

This $160 dollar bottle scored 97.5 out of a possible 100 points in the publication of a renowned industry publication from whisky expert Jim Murray. It was also made in Japan of all places. One usually thinks of Scotland when it comes down to Quality whiskeys and Scotch, not Japan. The Yamazaki is incredibly smooth though.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/who-makes-the-best-whisky-not-scotland/

you can also have a William Larue Weller scotch which placed second.

If all else fails, you can call Jack Daniels and his cousin Jim Beam. I have it on good authority they will have a drink or 2 with you. :D

Btw, it could have been worse. You could be up all night until 6 a.m Xmas morning putting together Barbies playhouse / mansion with working lights and everything and have your Xmas pretty much ruined by a Barbie doll and her new house / mansion.

Count your blessings.

I can honestly say, I have never gone into debt for any Christmas. If money was tight, then Christmas gifting was lean that year.

ER is not a fun place to spend Christmas. Been there done that.

It is especially sucky when it is with a child.
