The final bid for the work was $400m, with fees bringing the full price up to $450.3m.
In 1958 it was sold at auction in London for $60.

Since the customers at the wood shop I work at are the type to buy this sort of thing, I fully expect to have to build a room to house this for them soon.

The crystal orb in the image doesn't distort light in the way natural physics does, which would be an unusual error for da Vinci. http://www.thisisinsider.com/is-leonardo-da-vinci-salvator-mundi-fake-crystal-orb-2017-10 (http://www.thisisinsider.com/is-leonardo-da-vinci-salvator-mundi-fake-crystal-orb-2017-10) :timeout:

The image of Jesus himself is not the real Jesus, but for $450 million dollars I would think the rest of it is,
including the crystal orb distorting light could be a vision from heaven.

Yes, visions from heaven have happen ... I couldn't believe the bidding war for a painting went that high
$450 million dollars being the 2nd highest ever paid for painting.

The next one was $479 million dollars, but I forget who.

Money laundering at its finest. For criminals, arts have become a surrogate currency replacing the overregulated counterfeit money - and have become a way of money laundering. What in this case may be forgivable to use this painting for - imo it is incredibly cheesy. Somehow you must find a purpose for it.

I'm simply relieved it wasn't me who sold it for £45 when I was one year old :o
