No, this is not April Fool. Mixing sub crews was a bad idea, obviously.
A nuclear submarine captain has been relieved of his command after an alleged "inappropriate relationship" with a member of his crew.
The Royal Navy captain is being investigated following the allegations, which involve a female member of crew.
The BBC understands the captain of the submarine HMS Vigilant is at the centre of the investigation.
HMS Vigilant is a Vanguard class submarine based at HMNB Clyde at Faslane in Argyll and Bute.
It is one of four British submarines armed with the Trident ballistic missile system.
The Royal Navy has confirmed an investigation is ongoing but said it had not had an impact on current operations.
A ban on women serving on board submarines was only lifted in 2011.

In 2014, the first female commander of a frontline warship in the history of the Royal Navy left her vessel amid claims she had an affair with a shipmate.
Commander Sarah West has left the ship while an investigation is under way
Commander Sarah West, who denied the relationship, was "removed from command" of the Type 23 frigate HMS Portland and re-appointed to another post.

We really don't need this kind of distraction on the most dangerous vessels in the world. :06:
Sex maniacs!
Drink more strong black coffee and keep your pants on.
Joking aside this always was a bad move probably done to keep the PC police happy.

Unless there was something wrong about the bayonets, it would be hard to keep a straight face if given the command to fix bayonets.
Now if the command were to affix bayonets that would be more serious.
Bur really, when was the last time we actually affixed bayonets in combat?

Bur really, when was the last time we actually affixed bayonets in combat? In September 2012, Lance Corporal Sean Jones of The Princess of Wales's Regiment was awarded the Military Cross for his role in a bayonet charge which took place in October 2011.:Kaleun_Salute: https://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/304/media/images/63166000/jpg/_63166920_016095868.jpg http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-shropshire-19755107 (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-shropshire-19755107)
A a pragmatic training thing; http://prairiepundit.blogspot.com/2010/09/fix-bayonets-command-to-strike-terror.html (http://prairiepundit.blogspot.com/2010/09/fix-bayonets-command-to-strike-terror.html) In the Marines we first trained with padded pugal sticks, then moved up to the real thing. In the pugal stick competition I was matched up with a guy who had been a defensive tackle at Ohio State. He was taller and probably outweighed me by a 100 pounds. With my first parry I swung the lower end of the pugal stick and struck him on his left knee. He crumple to the ground and the match was over. The lesson there is that it is not just the bayonet end of the rifle that is used in the attack.

Quite honestly, you should finally get the power of nuclear weapons to the British. They are only a provincial village after leaving the EU. They have forfeited all rights to power and represent a potential danger. :03:

Five officers on nuclear submarine threaten to quit over alleged love affairs among crew (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/five-officers-nuclear-submarine-threaten-11308610)
Five officers on a nuclear submarine threatened to quit over love affairs among crew, it has emerged.
The second-in-command of HMS Vigilant, one of four Vanguard subs carrying the UK’s Trident missiles, has also been stripped of his duties amid claims of an inappropriate relationship, after the captain was removed.
Slightly off topic (but not much) this reminded of the story of an old friend of mine called Apples who served on a Swiftsure boat back in the 90s.
He managed to get on Blind Date (a UK TV programme, google it if you don't know the format) and got picked by the lovely young lady. Once abroad on holiday (and on camera) he started ripping the piss out of it for sh*t and giggles. Told her how he loved snogging other guys and that was how they coped alone for long times at sea.
He was on leave when it aired on TV but needless to say he got to meet a lot of senior officers for a lot of one-way chats when he got back to work :)

Well like I said, glad it was a female ... the other side of the coin could be much worse. :o
In the 1950s and 1960s, behavioural therapy was used to try to "cure" gay men. Men convicted of homosexual acts were routinely given electric shock treatment, hallucinogenic drugs and subjected to brainwashing techniques.
The most common form of treatment was aversion therapy, of the kind seen in Stanley Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange.
Those who volunteered for such treatments - often in preference to jail terms - were shown pictures of naked men and given a series electric shocks or drugs to make them vomit.
When they could stand it no longer, they were shown pictures of naked women, or films of nudist colonies, as a relief from the pain - or, in some cases, taken out on "dates" with young nurses.

Nine submariners on HMS Vigilant dismissed for drugs!
:k_confused:
Through a heavy mist of disappointment I can say that on my (sim) ships [SH3] drug abuse is not tolerated! Except of course amphetamines which are available 24/7 from the Medical Officer.
And no "inappropriate" male female "relationships" either. No sir, just good clean boy on boy fun!

Over 60 admirals, hundreds of Navy officers under scrutiny for scandal involving alcohol, prostitutes
Over 60 admirals and hundreds of Navy officers are now being investigated for contacts with Singapore tycoon and Malaysian defense contractor Leonard Glenn Francis, known as "Fat Leonard," the Washington Post reported Monday.
Francis paid off Navy officers with lavish dinners at some of the best restaurants in Asia, and he hosted after-dinner parties with booze and prostitutes -- affairs that sometimes lasted for days -- all in order to extract information to help give his company an advantage. Francis, who is based in Singapore, supplied Navy ships in international ports.
