Cannot Load game after Steam install

Hi,
I cannot load SH5 after steam install I keep getting a few pop ups.
Anyone have any ideas on this problem? :06:
I have Windows 7 Pro 16gb ram,shd, ect.

I installed from steam last night...steam should update it automatically for you make sure you are on ..."uplay"

hey berbster I have a question......I am gonna download from amazon a
copy of silent hunter ( so I can put TWOS mod into game) not gonna try the steam work around any way here's my question will silent hunter 5 gold edition take TWOS? thanks hope you are on line now cause i wanna do this tonight.

Hi BP
You can run any mods with STEAM but TDW,S Generic File Patcher, an essential SH5 application is incompatible with STEAM.
Any other SH5 version is compatible.

Make sure you uninstall STEAM SH5 correctly before downloading a new version.

I just installed UPlay and now it works.
so now i will Mod it. I used to know how to do all this before but its been so long and my dissapointment with Cold Waters has drawn me back to Silent hunter. Cold Waters is promising as long as they improve it...:Kaleun_Cheers:

The stock game is seriously bugged.
you really nee to ust the STEAM workaround so you can use TDW's Generic File Patcher and then use a Mega mod like TWOS or sobers

ok gang I have the same issue as IVO downloaded from steam 2 days ago, and it has never loaded, get the splash screen/movie then click on "load game"
it just sits there for eternity

i have the newest version
using "u play

the last two days has been spent going over all the provided info: but its gotten a bit over whelming

do i understand that this sim will not work correctly through steam

I saw the post with about 10 steps to get around steam, so is that my best shot here ??

Try loading the game from the game launcher.

if " game launcher" is in steam/steam apps/common
/SH5/. then that also would not launch

also I check checked for corrupt files
my computer is a gaming computer I use for flight simulator
the initial sh5 loads. but clicking : load game nets nothing

I recollect it might be something to do with the SH5.exe and where the game is launched from.
Or is the SH5 .exe copied and pasted I cannot remember but I remeber seeing a post some while ago?
If the game is installed in C:\Program files (x86) this is a restricted directory.
All 32 bit games will automatically default there.

Looks like to create a new download folder I will need another hard drive because any folder I create in C Drive, steam kicks back saying "there is already a steam folder on the C drive". even thought I name butthole

Im patient. we will get this sorted out eventually"theres an answer for everything computer"

Games and applications can be found in the Control Panels Pprogram and Features.
STEAM downloads will automatically default to the Program Files (x86) directory on your C drive.

You can uninstall the game and you will also find the Ubisoft/Uplay game launcher there as well.
Whether there is a STEAM application also there I cannot tell you.
It maybe that STEAM is integrated into the SH5 game rather than a separate entity?

Check for folders after any uninstalling on your C drive especially a Ubisoft folder in the Program Files (x86) directory.
Any other applications like JSGME will not be deleted in the uninstall so just delete the folder that any applications are in.

Run a registry cleaner after any installation and re-boot your system before installing anything.

New and re-installations should not be installed in the restricted directory Program Files (x86)

and the journey continues: used an external hard drive, made sure sh5 was completely uninstalled: installed "U Play" and sh5 into the external hard drive
but no luck. the game comes up and everything on the menu works except "Load Game

Yes but one thing I just noticed on your screen. I don't have the "tutorial" option on mine

so when I say the game wont "load" it means I click on the :load game"
and it will just sit there for ever, I assume another screen will come upright ??

no. that screen shot was the freshly downloaded sh5 to the external hard drive

actually I have never really gotten into the game
like the "new campaign " the movie runs and then freezes I can even click W: D"S" and hear the noise of footsteps but nothing moves

Not sure what is going on.
When the game loads to the menu screen for the first time you must select "New Campaign" as you have to setup a Captain.
When you press "Start" the game automatically loads to the tutorial.

You cannot load a game that does yet exist.
"Load game" shows you your saved games.
also no "ships Journal" You will not see it without one of TDW's NewUI's mods enabled.

ok, probably should have read the manual. but instead just jumped in

however there is still a slight issue
new campaign: intro starts ( which might be the tutorial) I need to climb the stair to speak to the captain: when done I attempt to use W:S:D:A to move and nothing happens except I hear footsteps on metal. also says to use left click on mouse to see around. : this does nothing

So we are getting closer

W-A-S-D should give you your movements,
The left mouse button should allow you to swing around and also get the correct position to climb the ladders.

The tutorial is not compulsory.
Just starting the tutorial creates the Career History file.
You can exit the tutorial if you do not wish to do it.
Go to:
C:\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\CareerHistory

HasCompletedTutorial=false < change to true Exit and Save.
