View Full Version : 100-Year-Old Fruitcake Found 'Perfectly Preserved' in Antarctica...
An Antarctic historical preservation team working on the site of Scott's base camp for his ill-fated attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole has discovered a tin containing a 100-plus year old "perfectly preserved" fruitcake among remains of Scott's expedition:

I must say, even though fruitcakes are the bane of US Christmas celebrations and traditions, considered to be nearly indestructible (and inedible), and are re-gifted in a manner akin to Sicilian vendettas, you Brits out there really take the cake when it comes to fruitcake durability...
There'll always be an England and, apparently, there will always be English fruitcake...

In case you haven't noticed, after the big bucks companies declared PC gaming dead several years ago, PC gaming is making a stealth comeback. Just this month Steam announced it had 67 million monthly users, compared to Xbox Live's 53 million announced for the last quarter. That's 29% more users for just Steam than Xbox live.
The smart game companies better not ignore us. PC games play better too. Although PC and console gamers can play together on Counterstrike Global Offensive online, the PC players dominate the console monkeys completely. The PC is just a superior gaming device.
And you can play hundreds of Steam games on Linux, another tremendous advantage. Consoles make no economic sense and they are crippled PCs anyway. Game companies need to take good care of the place where their future lies: PCs.

Yaaay, RR! And don't forget us retro-fans... I've got a stash of offline games I bought for nothing over the years and (like vinyl) I reckon you'll have to pay a fortune to get them in later times. When I'm dead, probably.

Don't we all. :DL
