guys,

i updated my GeForce drivers. then a while later fired up SH4. the graphics had changed as i could no longer see all of my crew in the damage control room. i made some changes in the SH4-Graphics Options and unfortunately the last change i made resulted in a floating window which says "input not supported". :oops: every time i start SH4 i get the floating message after the branding screen.

ok. i get it :wah:but now how do i get rid of it. i checked main.cfg and it states that my graphics are set to 1024/768 which is not the case.

what file can i change/delete that will reset the game graphics to a setting that is supported?:06:

Your My Documents / SH4 / Data / cfg folder has the Main.cfg that holds what you are set to now, such as:

[VIDEO]
Resolution=1280,1024,70,22
DynamicShadows=No
FullScreen=Yes
Synchronized=No
TextureResolutionHigh=Yes

I'm on an old-fashined "square" (4:3) LCD...

The main.cfg in the game folder is only used upon initial install, or if you delete the Save folder info.

so, SH4 will actually run now but the crew management display is off from what it was. previously, all of the damage control crew was visible and now the rightmost 3 or 4 crew are not visible.

same resolution as before: 16x12

any hints?

ok...i fixed it.
i changed the win7 resolution to 1920x1080 then changed the SH4 graphics to match. exited and re-entered and voila...i got my three crewman back.

in truth i do not remember ever setting the resolution to 1920x1080 previously so i am at a loss as to how with 1600x1200 i could see all of the crewmen and then not.:06:

dunno... lots of mysteries still to be discovered in the game. One of the devs or Ubi needed to come out with a "Silent Hunter 4: An In-Depth Study" book that also had a chapter or two on modding and how to interface with the game's workings, and not cause a CTD...
