This is an excellent short film Eichhörnchen. I had no idea there was such a thing as " Flying Sergeants. " It took a lot of courage for Lt. Col John Blthe to fly the excellent Spitfire, In the unarmed reconnaissance version to war time Germany and back.

Thanks for posting and sharing this film Eichhörnchen. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Hi, Joe! Wasn't he a nice guy? I just wished the movie was longer.

Yeah, he was.
You'd be mellow too(after the initial terror wore off).
Imagine flying into the heart of Germany with NO GUNS and every BF109 driver in the land gunning for you.
Not MY cup of tea.
Bet he's really religious.

I think it'd be far safer for a WW2 recon pilot to make the flight to Berlin and back than it would be for a crewman on a B-17 or Lancaster even in a formation. At least the recon pilot had the advantage of being difficult to spot and track down whereas there's no hiding in a bomber.

A bit OT, but once downed, the evil Nazis did everything to help pilots and crews.

german:

There was a whole shipwrecked service system installed in the channel by Germany to be used by all, i still try to get more information on that.

Again slightly O/T but well worth a watch. A short from an O/L flight group. I hope all will excuse the link and the quality. This is rather old but IMHO one of the best sim movies out there. Enjoy;
