Greetings Skippers!
Is there a mod or command that allows us to only partially raise or lower our periscopes? I'm pretty sure I've seen Depthtokeel doing so on his "You Tube" videos. But, I haven't been able to do it. When I click the periscope icon and it starts going up, I try clicking it again to stop it in place. But it continues to full up. And vis versa on the way down.

You can use the the Page Up and the Page Down buttons on your keyboard to raise and lower the Attack periscope. It give you the option of full control and as to the level you want to raise it to.
The Ins and Del buttons perform the same task for the Observation scope.

Roger that. Thank you so much! :Kaleun_Salute: I guess I would have figured that out, had I looked close enough at the hotkeys diagram.

Does anyone know how often this was actually used? Looking at the interior of subs it seems like there's a pretty limited range of where the scope eyepieces are exposed and usable. Anything lower than full extension seems like it would be murder on the observers back
I know I've read about skippers sitting or lying on the deck to look through the scope.
Edit:
Most of the incidents of using the scope this way involved very shallow water, where extending the scope all the way would have left it very exposed. I also seem to recall one mention where the crew modified the scope so it could be partially extended and used in the Control Room, rather than the Conning Tower. I'm not sure exactly how that was accomplished.

I think I'd probably prefer the backache over the increased chance of detection, due to a fully extended scope.
