Yeah, but I was a bit shocked (and disappointed, I don't know...) when I learned it came from a Chinese company.

Although I have nothing against China, but I don't know...:-?

China plays the long game, we have ADHD. China will still be here a thousand years from now. Those things are getting big enough that you wonder when someone is going to fill one with C-4, and do something naughty with it?

They equip ultra light aircraft with parachutes for that very occasion. Should work fine on those too and if not it does something against overpopulating the world.:smug:

Whats the point? Why build a vehical where the passenger is at the mercy of some far away C2 center? Truely autonomous vehicals are already here and being used quite sucessfully in a number of civilian and military applications. In my opinion Ehang 184 doesn't fulfill any need that smaller less expensive vehicles can do right now. OP hit the nail on the head when he said its a 'toy' and I agree, this Ehang contraption is a novelty toy for small rich people.

I can buy a very capable drone with close to the same flight time for under $200.00 on amazon.

Furthermore China isnt taking the lead in anything they havent had an original idea since they built the Great Wall. Besides belching out tons of pollution that's known to blot out the sun. They're now busy piling heaps of dirt on fragile coral reefs and eco systems so they can make claims to surrounding waters.

That is what people said about Japanese and the Soviets.

What I hear is the Japan and the Soviets though a Johnny come lately in 40 or so years made its mark by sending a man in space with their technology and Japan made its mark in electronics and quality.

Like someone already said China has been around for thousands of years and its still playing around building piles of dirt.

You know something similar that can be used as an autonomous non polluant vehicle that can bypass traffic?

Post a link.

Non pollutant?

The generation of electric power produces more pollution than any other single industry in the United States. According to 2000 figures, the U.S. electricity production industry is responsible for:
62.6% of U.S. sulfur dioxide emissions that contribute to acid rain.
21.1% of U.S. nitrous oxides emissions that contribute to urban smog.
40% of U.S. carbon emissions that contribute to global climate change.
Among the other major environmental issues linked to electricity are water impacts, generation of wastes and the disruption of land uses.

You can keep your wonder machine. I'll use the internet to bypass traffic and have it delivered.

I want clean efficent and enviromentally friendly Nuclear power!

Or polluant if you want... as long as one can travel and bypass traffic.

What I hear is the Japan and the Soviets though a Johnny come lately in 40 or so years made its mark by sending a man in space with their technology and Japan made its mark in electronics and quality.Yet before they did that to prove themselves they were viewed (and still are - the biases regarding soviet equipment are still strong) as inferior.

What one sees is China following a simmilar trajectory.

I want clean efficent and enviromentally friendly Nuclear power! Comrade, why don't you lobbey for 4th generation powerplants to be built in the USA or to close the fuel loop or to fix the industry?
