DAMN! Forget James Bond. SIR Roger Moore CBE was Ivanhoe in the 50's! My introduction to 'Chivalry 101'! His faithful companion Gurth was played by Robert Brown who later played "M' in the James Bond movies as well. He was 'brother Beau' on my favorite western Maverick too. I still watch reruns of The Saint. I'm thoroughly bummed. Moore insisted on undertaking much of the stunt work himself, resulting in several injuries including three cracked ribs from a fight scene and being knocked unconscious when a battleaxe hit his helmeted skull. Moore later commented: "I felt a complete Charlie riding around in all that armour and damned stupid plumed helmet. I felt like a medieval fireman".

Very sad.
Remember not only Bond but numerous other flicks, always charmant, and not taking himself too seriously. Very good in "The Persuaders!", which flopped in the US. Seems they put other words in his mouth in the german translation, this was really funny and great to see :)
Rest in peace, Mr. Moore.

I always enjoyed Roger Moore's portrayal of James Bond in his many movies and I have the entire series of James Bond movies. When I think of James Bond, I Immediately think of Roger Moore and another fine actor, Sean Connery. Both of these fine actors brought the character of James Bond to life.

Rest in Peace Roger.

Beau Maverick, Bart and Bret's English cousin. Replaced James Garner when he left the series.

Two of the movies I also remember him outside of those already mentioned are North Sea Hijack and The Wild Geese.

I'm one of the few who actually preferred him over Connery as James Bond.

Not very sad about this news, to be honest.
While I didn't see many movies with him, I always really liked him, he seemed like a very OK guy altogether, really.
But with 89, it really is OK to go.
I only hope he didn't suffer too much from this vicious disease, and that those left behind can find solace in the fact that he was with them for some time.

I liked him in pretty much everything he did, but I especially liked his performance in the movie "ffolks"

An antisocial curmudgeon who likes cats over people, what's not to like? :D

RiP Sir Roger, another great one bites the dust.

It took me a long time to accept any one other than Connery in the role, but over the years I have watched Moore's Bonds many time and have learned to appreciate them. My favorite was "For your eyes only".

Up until this movie my Aryan looking G.I. Joes had taken the brunt of the damage, I'm afraid my African American G.I. Joe was in for it for awhile after seeing The Wild Geese.
