View Full Version : Post patrol report error issue... Zero tonnage?? WTF??

Just finished a patrol in a Type II A, during which I sunk two Granville Type freighters for a total of just under 10 thousand tons.
I get back to Kiel and my post patrol report says I got a big fat zero for ships and tonnage. This of course affects my renown reward and other rewards. My Captain's log says I had two sinkings. This patrol was played in two sessions with only one save between. I did not save after the sinkings.
Fixable?
Restart the career?
Go back to the earlier save point and redo??
Common problem with this game??

Thanks

Did you verify that they belonged to a country at war with Germany at the time you sank them?

They were both British flagged and the sunk ship icons on the map were red. I couldn't really see the flag until after I torpedoed them and was using free camera to watch them sink...

If not for this, I would ask if this was a pre-war patrol and you accidentally sank neutral shipping.

However, depending on the time period, it may be that the ships were neutral, and you mistook a Commonwealth ensign, possibly Canadian, for the British merchant ensign. It took a week for Canada to declare war on Germany following the declarations of France and England. This is true for many other Commonwealth nations as well.

Hi Diceman
Did you check your U-Boat patrol log at the time you sank them to see if they had been recorded there?

Hi Diceman
Can post your mod list?

That brings up another question...
I'm running SH3+GWX3.
No Jawhol.
I've also added some music to the gramophone file. (Radio Deutschland/Radio England/ German hits 1939)
I've selected a few of the GWX3 enclosed mods in the JSGE (16k view range/realistic damage/open hatch) but once they've been selected to the RH box are they automatically added to the game or do I need to select one of the Task options too and make it install them?
A noob at this modding thing... sorry!

Yes sir, I did check the log to confirm sinkings at the time I got the "she's going down" message, mostly to see tonnage and if I identified the ship correctly during setup. I also checked it once back in port after I got the zeros on my patrol 1 report.

The sinkings were about a week into September and I remember seeing all the empire nations listed as war declared. The last to declare before the sinkings was South Africa.

Did you make any changes at all to your boat or your crew, when you were in the "office", before starting that first patrol? That's an old, old "bug" that seems to never have been solved.

When the MODs appear in the right-hand box in JSGME, they are activated; you don't have to use a "Task" option.

Really ??? If you change settings to your boat or crew before the first patrol, you won't be rewarded for your sinkings during this patrol ??? :o

Yup...

It's happened to me a couple of times; once when all I did was open the "file cabinet" to view my new crew and find out their names and experience levels. Another time all I did was exchange a couple of G7a torpedoes for G7e. I think the very first time I had that problem was because I put a Flotilla emblem on the boat before starting the first patrol.

The GWX Manual (pg 14) specifically cautions users about that old bug. IIRC the manual for LSH has the same warnings.

I'm not sure if it's safe to change "Options" settings from the office, but in general I'd suggest that you don't touch anything in the office before you depart on your first patrol.

I did make changes to crew before patrol... must be that. I maxed out crew of all ranks.
I'll redo the first patrol with zero changes and see what happens.
Thanks!!!
