The NHL Hockey playoffs are here and there are 16 teams vying for the chance to hoist the coveted Stanley Cup signifying the best in all Hockey for the year and a years worth of bragging rights. Last year, it was the Pittsburgh Penguins. Who do you think will win it this year ? Will there be any hockey hero's in the playoffs or Stanley Cup Finals ?

In the 1st round in the Eastern Conference, 1) The New York Rangers face the Montreal Canadians. 2) The Boston Bruins play the Ottawa Senators. 3) The Washington Capitals play the Toronto Maple Leafs. 4) The Pittsburgh Penguins play the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In the 1st round in the Western Conference 1) The Anaheim Ducks play the Calgary Flames. 2 ) The Edmonton Oilers play the San Jose Sharks. 3 ) The Chicago Blackhawks face the Nashville Predators. 4) The Minnesota Wild play the St. Louis Blues.

Do you have any favorites or predictions ?

I know they're a long shot but I gotta go with the home team.

I used to root for, in very loose terms, for Buffalo Sabres but ever since I realized I'm not really into sports at all, I'll say any underdog would be nice.

Haven't really a favorite team in NHL as such, there is one team though that I follow a little more than the others- Calgary Flames.

Well as a long time Leaf fan I hope they can win a game. :O: They play Washington in the first round and I would say that the Caps and Chicago Black Hawks are the teams to beat. But... it's a war of attrition that lasts six weeks so anything is possible. Go Leafs. :D

Was wondering who these bookmarkers see as the winner of the
Stanley Cup 2017. I toke a look at two page and saw they had different favorite.

espn has Washington Capitals 3-1 as the team they think will win

oddsshark has Chicago Blackhawks +400 as the team they think will win.

so this has been a most unusual series. Top teams keep falling off.

I will go out on a limb and predict the finals will be between Nashville and Ottawa.

Both teams have been playing really well so far.

I used to live in Ottawa and still have family there, needless to say they keep rubbing in the fact that Montreal finished 1st in its division and did not even make it past the 1st round while the Senators are heading into the 3rd round.

Montreal traded PK Subban to Nashville last summer. That may turn out to have been an especially dumb move...:/\\!!

The Ottawa Senators look formidable as did the NY rangers in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson is as formidable as ever. In spite of that, I'm going to pick the Pittsburgh Penguins in 7 games over Ottawa. The Penguins showed resiliency against the Washington Capitals, ejecting them from the playoffs once again. The Capitals played dirty during this recent playoff series with the Penguins, with illegal hits that took the Penguins best player out for a game with a concussion, Center Sidney Crosby.

The Penguins have won eight of the previous nine meetings with the Capitals, the lone exception being 1994. I'm guessing none of the Washington Capitals players have kitchens or cook in their homes because they can't stand the heat.

The best in the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, are already out. I had hoped the Detroit Red Wings would have played better this year as well. I will bet the Nashville Predators will be battling the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Stanley Cup and the Penguins will win the cup as they did last year.

There are now 2 teams left from the original 16 that started the NHL playoffs. As I expected, The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville Predators are battling for the Stanley cup and the right to be called the best in the National Hockey League for another year.

The Penguins got things rolling by winning game 1 of the best of 7 series, 5-3.

Who do you think will win the series and how many games will it take ?

Well the Penguins are going to have to play better than they did tonight.
More lucky than good.

37 1/2 minutes without a shot on goal.
Only 12 shots on goal all night but 5 of them went in. What a percentage.

Nashville looked pretty good just not very lucky.

I agree with you. Nashville was on the move in the 3rd period, overcoming a 3-0 deficit. I don't think I could call this series. You don't get to the finals unless you are good or just very lucky or maybe a little of both.

I think it will come down to sheer determination and who wants it more. I still think in the end, the Penguins will repeat but it will take 7 games. Either way, I think Hockey fans got to see some great hockey throughout the playoffs in addition to the last 2 teams playing for the cup.

As I expected, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley cup for the 2nd year in a row. The Stanley cup signifies the best in the National Hockey league. The Penguins were incredibly resilient, overcoming devastating loses yet remaining the gritty, determined and talented hockey team that they are.

No matter what team you were cheering on, there was a lot of great hockey for those who are fans of the sport. Hopefully, The Detroit Red Wings will have a better year as well next season.

Congratulations to the 2017 NHL Hockey Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins. :Kaleun_Applaud::Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Best game of the series tonight.
Towards the end of the second period I was saying "Next goal wins."
Turns out to have been true.

Congrats Penguins.
