Why is not possible to login to Subsim through a more secure http connection rather than the insecure www.
Is the www the cause as to why Subsim seems to be now more frequently spammed?
Can Subsim improve its security and stop this sort of thing happening?

I'm all for tighter security but any changes would have to be sanctioned by Neal.
Send him a PM and discuss maybe?

Peter, these type of spam attacks are created by people intent on posting spam simply joining the forum, just as legitimate people do. Adding the secure socket level protocol won't change that. SSL is just a protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.

TSL would be a nice addition though, atleast for stuff like passwords/logins.
