View Full Version : STEAM!
How do I get rid of "steam" on my PC????. I downloaded it a few weeks ago to play some games in advance with SH5. Now I have the disk installed but the "steam" version is popping up every time and the game will not run from the disk but only the "steam" version. I deleted the "steam" programm several times from my PC ( at least I tried to do this) but somehow its comming back to haunt me every time
I would like to use the "Wolves of Steel"" modpack and I am not that good with a computer to install it on/in the "steam"version.
So please: H E L P !!!!!!!!!:wah:

Hi S9
I must admit I do not have any knowledge as such of STEAM.
I would check the Control Panel's Program and Features where you will find the game installation.
Have a look down the list and sea if Steam is also installed.
Steam downloads to the Program File (x86) directory on your C: drive.
Hopefully a Steam user will be able to give you accurate information.

I did, several times. I remove the programm, according my knowledge, from the map its downloaded in. And yes, thats the file saying "Programfile x 86"on the C drive. I click on it and put it in the bin. Than I put the disk with SH5 in the tray to make a clean installation. And than the "fun" starts.
After installing it the programm it automaticly installs "Uplay" If i do not install that "Uplay" nothing happens anymore ( i cannot play) So i install "Uplay" and after that i am rerouted to the Steam server and cant play from the dvd anymore.

Hi Sub
Uninstall the game launcher from the Control Panel's Program and Features.
The game launcher automatically defaults to the Program File (x86) directory.
Use a free registry cleaner like Ccleaner and reboot your system.
Download this new genuine game launcher.
The difference here is that you can install it anywhere, so not in the Program File (x86) directory.

Whatever I try it does not work. Steam is popping up every time I renew the installation of SH5.
For now I give up. Next week I am 3 weeks in Indonesia for a well deserved holliday. When I come back I will hire some true skills for my PC in order to get this install right!!.
THX for the heads-up and advise.:salute:

You don't have to bother. I have steam and wolves of steel mod works perfectly with it. You just need to read and follow carefully the small prints in the alternative instructions, lest you get a corrupted exe.:Kaleun_Salute:

It seems like Steam is tied to your copy of SH5. If it is, there's nothing you can do about it.
Where did you buy this SH5 from? If it's physical copy, does it say it requires Steam on the back cover?

It would appear that SH5 and the Ubisoft game launcher have not been fully uninstalled, or there is still files left in the Registry that are affecting any new installation.

I asked Steam to cancel and delete my account. Perhaps that will do the trick.
And no the DVD is not tied up to a Steam account and does not ask for it. Its from Amazon Germany and its a normal DVD/CD.

Hi Sub
And no the DVD is not tied up to a Steam account and does not ask for it. I know, it would not be.
The dvd cannot install if it finds any form of previous installation.
Having a Steam account is not the problem as you could be playing other Steam downloaded games as well as SH5.
Its just SH5 that needs to be uninstalled and all its components.
