Just installed SH 3 with LSH. Now what?

I just installed SH 3 and LSH 3. Is this is it? Or do I need something else?

I have the following mods activated in LSH3:
- Fullversion
- Patch HSIE
- GUI Widescreen

Now what?

GWX is another supermod like LSH and NYGM. They all change the game in different ways and cannot be used together. Any one of them is pretty much all you "need", but if it's graphics you want then you picked the right one to start with.

There are hundreds of different small mods that can be used in conjunction with any of the supermods and a couple of bigger ones as well. All of them do nice things, but I would stick with the one you have now until you get a real feel for the game. Then I (and everybody else) will be glad to give our opinions on what works best for us and why.

Here is an older thread on the other mods, big and small. The thread is geared toward GWX3, but it will give you a hint of what's out there, and most of these work just fine with any of the supermods. I'm sorry the OP let his pictures lapse, but the links are mostly still good and if you have any questions feel free to ask them right here.

To answer your question "now what?"...
well basically just enjoy!

One of the best things about LSH3 is that it has most of what ever you could possibly want allready merged in. No need to add a lot of aditional stuff.

I would recommend you try out the included addon special effects big. It brings spectacular explosions to the game.

Hi Machariel,

glad to see a fellow LSH3 player. I got SH3 about a month back and after some fiddling around managed to install LSH3 as well as a GWX install. I focused on the LSH3 install to get "a feeling for the game" like a previous poster just mentioned. I'm in my 4th or so career and finally got the hang of the game. I play between 96% and 100% realism (no map contacts, limited fuel, air, battery, manual targeting, etc.). I usually leave the WO on, as I'm too lazy to flip through the recognition manual every time I find a target, and for recorded games I enable the external camera.

I highly recommend using COMMANDER to start your games if you play careers. I always start my game through COMMANDER.

Issues I've encountered so far:

-Promotions, medals and qualifications need to be handed out immediately after docking, otherwise they disappear and you can't promote your crew members

-Sometimes the camera sinks uncontrollably through the boat and lower

-Warships driving into solid structures and then exploding next to my dock

Otherwise I'm having a fantastic time.


Mod setup:

LSH3, HSIE 4GB Patch, realistic everything, duds and sabotage, GWX exhaustion model, OLC GUI, manual targeting, no map contacts, all black contacts (those from radio messages)

I too recently downloaded LSH3. I am an avid NYGM user. I started LSH3 to play for fun in between patrols in NYGM.

I highly recommend you try other mods. I love NYGM because while it is not pretty in terms of graphics, ports, and ship details, it tweaks the ship AI into a real hunting experience.

Attacking a convoy in NYGM is a serious endeavor. the escorts are merciless, and get worse as the war ages.

I also noticed from GWX that I was able to get high tonnage scores. As high as 115,000 tons in one patrol!

You will not get that in NYGM because the AI fights back hard.

Medals and qualifications can be changed at anytime you are docked before your next patrol using SH3Commander.

I just recently ended a patrol and exited the game (through the door in the office into the main menu, and then "Spiel Beenden") and when I came back through COMMANDER into the career, into my office and wanted to distribute the medals, qualifications and the promotions they were all gone, that's at least my memory. To be safe I'll distribute all these things right after the end of the patrol from now on.

Yes, promotions must be taken immediately.
