Political threads, shouldn't they be merged into a all purpose thread? I really dont see any difference in the content, fanboy rants, finger pointing, gotcha links, crying, see I told you so's or nay say. Odd thing about the behavior on these threads too is its just like the public figures everyone is complaining about.
Nah, UK politics isn't US politics, and German politics isn't UK politics. Don't take Steeds soap-box thread away from him. :03:
Keep them separate. Easier to evade at least some of Skybird's ramblings. :)

I take your point but a decision was made many moons ago that they should be kept separate not just for geographic reasons but if I'm to be totally honest, because of the differing levels of civility in the posting content.
A quick comparison between the UK and US threads should make everything quite apparent.

UK - we are a bit more light hearted and have a good laugh at times without getting to deep.
US - serious bland and very very deep and very little laughs.

Also too I see more euros involved in the US politics thread than I do US people so I guess they're the ones who make it what it is. another reason to merge them.

If they are merged then we'll have people cross-talking about different countries all in the same place. It's already confusing enough trying to keep them straight. :dead:

I dont really find it all that confusing, on the contrary i find most if not all the problems, thoughts, posts and replies on matters quite similar.

If you read both of them at the same time you are either a moderator or else you just can't sleep.

Music can make you laugh, make you cry, give you chills, shake your booty, or—as anyone who has ever attended an evening performance at the symphony knows too well—put you to sleep. Emerging research from sleep scientists around the world says that there’s a good reason for this, and now you can exploit it to make your own bedtime even cozier.
Music has been used in healing ceremonies for thousands of years and across cultures—but let’s talk about a surprising new study out of Hong Kong. Researchers found that study participants who listened to music for 30 to 45 minutes before bed every night for three months fell asleep more quickly, slept more deeply, and felt better the next morning. The catch: The songs they listened to were all set at tempos between 60 and 80 beats per minute—our approximate heart rate when falling asleep.
That’s right: You can literally trick your body into relaxing by syncing your heart rate with peaceful music. In this way, listening to music becomes a form of meditation; by mindfully listening to your surroundings, your heart rate slows, your blood pressure lowers, your anxiety abates, and life becomes a peaceful song.

Err, what!?
The UK and ger politics threads are rather peaceful and nearly exclusively run by Europeans, yet somehow it is the europoors fault that the us thread is heated?
Maybe, just maybe, the us politics thread is what it is because of... us politics?

I never thought for a moment to start a contentious arguement over who is more at fault for instigating or inspiring any emotional bruhaha or as you seem to argue ones superiority over another, you did. But seeing as how you mention it...
I just said Euros seem to play more a part in the US politic thread than USAos do in others. Just my simple limited observation of who participates in what threads, I could be wrong. Dont really give a rats arse how people say it. I suggested a merge because I thought the topics, gripes concerns and whatnot seem to be about the same thing only behind different borders.

I'm actually of the opinion that there should be more separate topics. As new events happen, they might require their own thread, at least for a while, or until it goes off rails and turns into soap boxing again.
There have been a few threads that got merged into super threads that shouldn't have. They deserved their own discussion, not being lumped in with the general rhetoric of the politics/terrorism threads.

Oh, and yes, I do like the Simpsons...although I'm more a Baseball than NFL kinda guy, Basketball is quite cool too, used to enjoy playing it back in middle school with a couple of mates of mine.
