Hiya Shipmates! This "Locking" system on SH5 really needs sorting out! Surprised that no one has tackled it already! :arrgh!::arrgh!: IT JUST DOES NOT WORK!
Through the periscope you lock on to a ship and it keeps on moving! In SH4 it stays where it is so that it is easier to get at!
Can't anyone sort this please as it spoils the gameplay! :wah::wah:

Ahoy VDR! I have been playing your excellent "Wolves of Steel" mate. Just one gripe! The circular grid overlay ought to be removable ..less obtrusive. I could hardly see the position of my sub and had eventually to abandon the game mate!
I know why you placed the grid and it is a fine idea .. but to be able to choose to have it or not ..OR for it to be more faint would be nice. :yep: :yep: :yep:

Ahoy thar shipmate! I use the word "grid" for the want of a better word mate! I am referring to the circular markings which tell one the distances that one needs to know when firing torpedoes .. I assume. Can't be missed, right on top of the map mate! :D:D

That's what I means matey! Can't do the shot as I have uninstalled. The mod is really great skipper, but having to keep peering between them bearing marks to find mi sub really got to me after a bit. :oops: :oops::hulk:

I still don't understand what your "problem" actually was but somehow I have a strong feeling that not everything was installed in your game/mod as it should...
"Circular grids" which make your sub "hard to find"? That definitely sounds like something which should not be there, regardless of mods used or stock game...:yep:

Make sure to grab latest update when you do and you probably won't have "circular grid" issues anymore...

Looking at your picture you have an installation or a Direct X problem.
Your tools showing in the top left corner should be in the bottom left corner and you are showing the attack compass over the top of everything.
How is your game installed?

with latest update of TWoS (1.06.09) you solve your problem ...but please you can post your mod list ...as explained to you several times THEBERBSTER !!
more than anyone believes you have a bit 'of confusion in your mod list I think...

I think you have not bit problem... but great problem and confusion in your
MOD list...
you mix many MOD....
you never probed install TWoS??

Your mod list is like a stew with no meat.
Its a bit of a mish mash of this and that with nothing substantial all based on the stock game.
Let's say that all your mods could be compatible but, what order do they need to be in?
Your picture clearly shows now having seen your mod list that you do have a compatibility issue going on in the current order or, one or more mods is totally incompatible.
The only way to find out what is going on is to remove the mods and then put each one back at a time and test.
Only you know which mods are being overwritten as on Subsim it cannot be seen.
Like in any mod soup if one or more mods has to have the same file to work then this becomes an issue and possibly in most cases a ctd.
In your case it seems you have 2 maps superimposing on top of each other.
Classe_Narwhal_CamoTri The Narwahl is an American boat from SH4.
Chart Colour Scheme 2 The color scheme does not look right for this mod map 2.
I would suggest using Mod mep files if you are going shuffle a number of your mods around as this is a very quick way of doing it.
You can find how to do it in my tutorials.

Surprisingly if you lock on the ship with a ready torpedo, just before you fire, unlock it, then fire, this works fine..

It is not surprisingly as you say, because Auto TDC automatically adjust the gyro angles which is why you will get a hit.
This is not Sid's problem as Auto TDC has already been explained to him.
He has a game corruption that needs to be sorted.

Hi ya Guys! BERBSTER.. thanks here mate for your diagnosis. You mention that I have a SH4 mod amongst my selection. This is hardly surprising, as many, many SH4 modder's do not identify which game their mod is mad for! This mod will be one of them. I can take it out.
In as far as clashing is concerned, the mod enabler lets one know if there is a conflict and I do NOT install the mod if I see a clash coming! So I do not understand the clashes???
I will change where I am going wrong guys in as much as I can ..if you will bear with me. :-?:-?:-?

I have not as yet installed WOS mates. I am just having a bit of time "kicking some ass"! My mods are as unrealistic as one can get here! "Stained Beauty" is a great looking 'rust bucket' and 'Better Torpedo's Graphics' has a set of torp's that are really great and so on. :D I just want to spend a bit of time here, venting my spleen a bit! :haha::salute:
I would appreciate any guidance as to my mod order mates and anything you can throw in would be appreciated here!
In so far as 'meat in the stew'' is concerned BERB is probably spot on, given my intentions here. lol :haha::haha:
P.S. If anyone can point me to some better "kick ass" mods I would be beholding to you fellas. I think the ammo for the deck artillery is rubbish, and having to use crummy torpedoes is also bad. ((lol):ahoy:

OPEN HORIZONS II v2.5 < Campaign mod
TDW's NewUIs_7_5_0_ByTheDarkWraith < Adds commands and teleporting to the game.
Allows you to use the Options File Editor Viewer so you can customize your game play.
IRAI_0_0_41_ByTheDarkWraith < Intelligent Random Artificial Intelligence
You then need another set of mods probably around 6 to 8 would do, that contain patches that help to make SH5 work properly.
A good starting point is here.

Looking down sobers mod list you can see what it all means as it works in harmony.

You do not need a 100 mods to get a good game.
You do need to know what each mod does and the impact it has on any mod it is going to overwrite.
My simple rule is, if there is no documentation then do not use it.
The documentation is the only thing that is going to tell you what the mod is going to do and may also tell you what it is not compatible with.
More mods does not make the game better it only increases the problems you are likely to have in your game, but at the same time it is important to have the right ones.
and having to use crummy torpedoes is also bad. Not sure if you are just referring to dud torpedoes here?
TDW's Generic File Patcher can help here.
Two of the 6 to 8 mods I mentioned.
FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith
FX_Update_0_0_22_Torpedoes (modified for torpedoes failure patches)
You also have the Options Game Play Settings to turn off dud torpedoes.

Good question skipper, the problem isn't mine tho shipmate! I got the "grid" picture from somewhere else and I just used it to illustrate what I was talking about is all. I am still playing "kick ass" with "kick ass" mods. Tho I like some realism, I prefer to have the upper hand in my games here. Realism is too much like real life to me and I ain't a big lover of it! Too many kicks in the teeth for me! I sometimes wish that I could find a "real life" cheat! Boy would I use it! :har:

Thanks here shipmate. I have now installed TWoS and I am please to see the grid has gone. There is no guidance on the torpedo tho. No TDC. I know we are looking at being realistic. I am going to install the TSD helper here.

Lock the target.
Un-lock the target.
Fire
All you need to do is make sure your torpedo speed and torpedo doors are open in good time.
You can see the torpedo track line will change the angle between firing a fast or slow torpedo automatically.
