convoy shoot 'em up

I torpedoed a ship from two separate columns, both bow and stern shots. After the first torpedo explosion the ships in the convoy opened fire with every gun available. Deck guns and machine guns all blazing away in every direction as well as star shells from every escort! Of course all the searchlights were blazing as well. I was submerged at night and in no danger of taking a hit. I have never seen this before. it was quite a light show. Have other skippers seen this?

Originally if a boat was attacked by another boat, these boats would attack each other even though they are on the same side. Kind of a glitch. Maybe when you attacked the ships an escort attacked you, hit one of his own, and causes a chain reaction.
