So it's been a while since this has been kicked around on the forum. (Search says 2006)
So my question is this...
What do you guys like in the morning to start the day? What's your favorite way to prepare it if applicable and what's your favorite brew/roast/etc.
I love coffee. It's great. I love all different kinds of coffee. At any given time I have 5 different kinds on my desk next to my grinder and coffee pot. I prefer a french press but my drip maker does alright when I grind the beans myself. I would really like to try the Turkish stuff that Betonov talks about but I can't seem to find anywhere that makes it that way.
Lately I've been drinking a lot of Caribou Coffee's Mahogany Dark Roast. It's got a great flavor even for being made in a drip pot.

every morning I stop and get two large leaded coffees and slam them down on my twenty minute ride to work. then I stop and get one more that I can enjoy at the office. On my days off at home its Death Wish coffee, truly nectar of the gods.

If I have time for proper tea rather than dishwater I drink tea. Otherwise glass of fresh water have to do.
I learned to drink tea at age of 15 when commuting to school (weeks in dormitory, weekends at home). Connecting train was usually late so there was a lot of time to sit in express train's dining car with nothing better to do (homework doesn't count) than test different tea options.
I don't really like coffee and once as a child I compared it to wallpaper glue... although I don't know what the latter tastes like...
Coffee, tea is for sick/Ill!

Pour over coffee as it's known today. Half and half, or black, no sugar or honey, and no damned smelly flavourings! Well, except whisky when camping.

Tea. Hot tea when it's cold. Iced tea when it's warm. My dad loved tea, and got me started. The instant stuff. I still keep a supply on hand for when the pitcher is empty, but overall I far prefer brewing my own. All that said, my dad also loved coffee, and I never liked the taste, which is weird because I love the smell.
And on days like today when I was up late and am just getting up at noon, a glass of Doctor Pepper is the key, so 'Tea' and 'Other'. :sunny:

Definitely coffee to get the engine started in the morning, then tea or coffee throughout the day as the mood takes me. Of course it's beer/wine in the evening!:Kaleun_Cheers:

Tea turns real men into nancy boys. Just look what hapened to British Empire after they started drinking the stuff. They went from the likes of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté KB to the Pet Shop Boys.
Americans had the Boston Tea Party dumped the crap over the side and started drinking a real mans drink, coffee. Great Again!

Black or green teas or a mix of both is a nice change of pace, especially after drinking pots of strong coffee or what I call, " Rocket fuel. " Tea along with some nice music before bed can be very relaxing. Coffee that is spruced up with a pinch of salt and some Irish Whiskey can be nice too. :D
The gourmet blends of coffee are ok and can be a nice change of pace as well but it's hard to beat a fresh cup of well made, basic coffee.

Coffee. Crude oil coffee.
:haha:
In the morning?
Coffee, black. From a giant can, pre-ground, from the grocery store, put through a drip coffee maker.
Other times:
Coffee, rapidly approaching room temperature because it's been in the pot all morning.
Or whatever other coffee you have available.
I often like a cup of tea in the afternoon or evening. Lapsang souchong or cheap grocery store tea bags usually.
When I'm sick, it's a strong cup of tea, with some lemon and enough honey to make it noticeably thicker. And a shot or two of bourbon.
I couldn't get by each day without my coffee, but during morning lunch/smoko breaks I like a hot muffin with a drink of spice chai.:yep:

Hot black tea first thing in the morning, then alternating black (instant or filter) coffee & tea during day, then an instant cappucino before bed.

BRCC has a payment delivery plan so that they send you all different kinds every month. At some point, (if it tastes good, which it should) i'll probably switch over completely to their stuff just because I like their business.
They're veteran-owned, veteran-run, and they openly challenge the company that represents everything I hate about coffee. I can dig.
How well Coffee taste depends on many things
Such as the hardness of water
A special brand of coffee can taste different from the one area to another. In area A where the hardness is high, the coffee could taste OK, while in area B-soft water it may taste not so good.
It also depends on the temperature of the water.
How fresh the coffee powder is kept
and so on.

One of my favorite Holiday treats is Tea from Davison Newman & Co LTD, one of those whose tea was dumped into Boston Harbor, imported by Mark T. Wendell Tea Company under the name 'Boston Harbour Tea'. It's expensive, so it's only for special times, but it's good.

That was a line from a woman comedian I had heard although it was a little different. The offending substance was a high degree of caffeine from an " energy drink " though.

When it comes to politics everyone has his or her standpoint, the same goes for coffee
1. What kind of coffee it has to be
2. How it should be made
3. How it should be enjoyed
And so on.

Did you just assume his coffee cookie? The nerve!
Usually I don't dip anything into my coffee. I let the beverage stand on its own without impurities such as cream, sugar, cookie, etc.
That being said, Mondays and Fridays I usually find myself eating a bacon egg and cheese bagel with a dark roast coffee. Lot of times I'll have a few cups of coffee to supplement my eggs, bacon, sausage, etc at breakfast. But there really isn't a time where I wouldn't drink coffee during the day and it goes good with most things I encounter...except maybe Thai/Asian food.

I believe that if you guys tried Lapsang Souchong tea then the results of this poll would be very different... the stuff is almost addictive
It doesn't "stew" like other teas if you leave it brewing for too long, and it has the same smoky peaty aroma and flavour as Aerstone Land Cask or Laphroaig malt whiskies

Sweet tea here. Switched to sweet tea from soda years ago. Less than half the sugar and not carbonated which means less gas and bloating. Stomach flattened out and I lost weight making that switch. Now I'm trying to switch to just plain old water permanently. Or ice cold water with lemon slices in it.

I love my freshly ground coffee. But a few years ago my wife and I visited Japan. Instead of coffee, the hotel supplied a couple of sencha tea bags and an electric kettle. Now, I like tea as much as the next guy - but I thought "Oh boy. Is this going to be enough to wake me up?"
Well, a couple of cups and about an hour later - I was as wired as you can get. Apparently sencha has quite a lot of caffeine. And thus started my love affair with Japanese green tea.
I buy mine from the same shop that I bought some from in Japan - Ippodo (http://www.ippodo-tea.co.jp/en/). Although I have developed much more of an affection for matcha than sencha. But I do still enjoy a good cup or three of sencha.

I'm in the U.S. so I'm not sure if the local stores around here carry either of those brands? :hmmm: I usually just get the Great Value brand sweet tea at Walmart and use a tea maker thingy-ma-bob to brew it in on the counter. Takes like 15-20 minutes to make a gallon.
I use very little sugar. Most store brand pre-made sweet tea has about 25 grams of sugar compared to a soda that has 45 grams. I try to make my sweet tea at the 10 -15 gram level at the most. I don't like it overly sweet and don't like it too watered down either. Some batches turn out better than others even when I try my best to make it the same way every single time. But at least if I keep the sugar down I can always add in a little more. Once it's too sweat, it's compromised and down the drain it goes.

That's funny! Reminds me of when I was stationed in Naples, Italy for several years when I was in the Navy and I ordered a coffee and it was just at tiny little thing but it was the strongest cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. It was so deceptive! Sort of like the movie Men in Black where the one guy had the big pulse rifle and the other got that puny little peashooter but the puny gun was way more powerful. :)
Quit coffee completely 3-4 months ago and switched to tea, rich earl grey mostly.
Still trying to find a tea that has enough taste to it without having to add sugar. :hmmm:
