I made the mistake of buying SH3 on Steam for I did not know of the issues involved with installing mods into it. Being as I've never really even attempted to install a mod in a game makes me even more worried. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do the Grey Wolves mod? Somewhere that explains it like I'm five. I've looked into some other discussions and feel somewhat overwhelmed. I guess if the first thing someone could explain to me is how I get the game out from under Steam influence and into another location. I made a backup into a folder on my desktop, but I do not think that removes Steam's influence, does it?

I have already read over that and due to not working with computers much at all, I really have no idea how to do these things. For instance-"By all means change that to something OUTSIDE C:\Program Files (x86) as it brings up UAC-issues that you do not want."-I don't know how to do this.

"By all means DISABLE the "Verify game cache integrity" option, which is on by default for all games you buy from STEAM."-I have no idea where to find this.

Thank you for your time.

What that means is instead of the default installation path of C:\Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III, copy your Silent Hunter folder directly into C:\ so that it looks something like this: C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III

UAC means user account control. Windows won't let certain files be overwritten if they are installed or copied into the C:\Program Files directory (I learned that lesson the hard way with Microsoft Flight Simulator)

Allright. Trying to figure out how to do this.

I guess I have it on the C drive now. When I click on 'Properties' and 'location', all it says is " C:\ ". Nothing after the backslash.

Ok. I have it on C drive I guess. I can't find anything on the web showing me how to DISABLE the "Verify game cache integrity" option.

Yeah I can't either. Standby though and I'll see what I can come up with

That's what I was looking into just now. I have a few games on steam and was trying to move them off steam but I'm running into the same problem. I can't figure out how to disable the verify cache. I'm going to keep playing around with it and will let you know what I figure out

I slightly changed the file path to look exactly like some I've seen in the examples. Also noticed I hadn't taken the spaces out from Silent Hunter 3. I redid that as well. STill same error. I'm about done. Been up since 5:30am trying to figure out how to do this stuff.
