An iconic name in mainstream movies. I remember him best for The Hit.

A fantastic and versatile actor, from Alien, to Tinker Tailor, to I, Claudius to Doctor Who, to Spaceballs.

Such a shame, and he kept working right to the end.

RIP.

I never knew his name but knew his work. I'll remember him always as Caine in Alien.

Rest in Peace John.

Sometimes the best measurement of a person's talent and influence is their far reach in those they have touched; from the entertainment "bible" Variety:

Hollywood Reacts to ‘Incomparable’ Actor John Hurt’s Death -

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/celebrities-react-john-hurt-death-social-media-1201972220/

Some actors are big, splashy names above the titles on the marquee; some actors are those whom the splashy names wish they could ever be...

Few people really ever earn being called "Sir"; for John Hurt, the title is more than an honorific...

Rest In Peace, Sir John...
