Ahoy!:Kaleun_Salute:
Has anyone served aboard the USS Bang 1960ish? Or know anyone who has? I'm asking because when my father was a kid he was invited onboard for dinner while the Bang was docked in Halifax. This is the conversation I had with him recently:
Me: I wanted to ask, do you remember the name of the submarine you went on when you were a kid, I'm sure you told me before
Dad: USS Bang
Me: Do you remember the year?
Dad: I think it was in 1960
Me: It would be neat if the guy that invited you on board is a member of SubSim
I'll ask in the forums.
You probably don't remember his name or what he did on the sub, do you?
Dad: It was in port at Halifax at that time
No. What I remember most is the delicious banana cream pie!
Me: Haha, yeah you told me :)
Dad: And steak dinner.
It was certainly when I was around 10
Me: When I ask I'll say 1960ish
Dad: The American sailors were always really nice and kind to the poor kids who lived near the docks. They probably felt sorry for us.
All we street urchins...
