Hi all,
So my Vanilla game always use to have the depth under keel function. However I have recently reinstalled the vanilla game after an uninstall and it has disappeared. Any idea's how I can get it back? I have tried several alterations to command 130 in the Cfg file as recommended in a few threads but with no luck. I can't seem to find a mod that will do the trick either.

Hi ronin
Check that your game has been updated to v1.2
Hover over your SH5.exe with your mouse.

It says Verson 1.0.5.0
Do I upgrade from the ubisoft website or somewhere else?

Just reinstalled and started again. I have depth under keel :)
Noticed that my tonnage bar hasn't move though, even on the British Coastal Waters mission. Is this a normal bug? I'll attempt to use Mama's fix to get around it if I need to

SO I tried Mama's fix and not really sure what should have happened but nothings seems to have done. I really want to play this game but at the moment it just seems as though I am stuck playing the first 3 missions and can't progress past them due to the tonnage bar not working. I've tried WOS but its too realistic for the time I can allocate to play the game, and I've failed to find a mod to deal with this issue. I just want a workable version of SH5 but I am getting to the point where I was 2 years ago where I just binned it off my PC and gave it up as a bad experience.
:( feelings sad and frustrated as I really want to play this game

I really can not understand you mate? Why don't you just enable the main mod and the update and start new campaign on easy settings (map contacts, auto tdc ect) Can't be more arcadish than that...:hmmm:
I really fail to see what is so hard in TWoS on "easy" settings?

Hi Vecko
This is the problem I am seeing in many PM's.
Players for some reason do not understand that they can use TWOS on the Easy setting with Auto TDC and tweak the Game Play Settings.
TDW's OFEV can also simply their game even further.

I will try WOS again. With all the info I've taken in over the last 5 days I have missed that on easy settings I can have auto TDC. Thanks for this snippet of info. I'm hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel :D
I guess when you are only just starting out on updating SH5, it can be overwhelming with all the advise and different downloads. Its easy to miss something in my experience.
thanks again though and fingers crossed. I'll let you know

Well, apparently not all players...IMO, if some people can understand while other can not, the cause is pretty much obvious for me.
What people do not understand is that SH5 with TWoS is not "World of War****s" thing and that some documentation has to be consulted before start, indeed...

I am grateful for all your help and certainly for your WOS. Excellent work, which I could not have achieved having a completely different set of skill sets.
I am sure you can understand though, the miriad that is faced by new players trying to sift their way through the vast amount of advice before them. It can be quite mind blowing for newbies to this forum. I empathise with your frustration, but its always good to remember that it takes time to sort the wheat from the chaff, and each persons research is likely to take a slightly different path.
thanks again everyone for your help though. Very much appreciated :Kaleun_Salute:

But anyway I am glad I have reached the point I am now at, and I would have gotten here without help.

Well the first thing to understand is that SH5 is a very complex 'study' sim out of the box, so there is much to take in. Then to realise that out of the box it's quite badly broken, so then to look for a mega mod to fix it. And of course there is a choice of megamods.
BTW until recently I had no idea that TWOS could be run in easy mode. This was new to me only a couple of weeks ago (last year I had been trying manual targeting and getting nowhere with it, to frustration). So yes in an ideal world there would be a beginner verses authentic setup choice, so that for example, auto targeting and the Auto TDC tutorial would work (it kind of works but several of the options such as the torpedo 1,2,3 lines are disabled by default in OFEV).
This is no fault of the terrific people here who have done the amazing work of making everything possible, but for sure there is a lot of reading to do and a larger learning curve than ubisoft developers would have intended. That is the price to pay for trying to play an older title that needs a lot of fixing. The point is though that it's pretty amazing when it works and worth persevering with! (and I'm barely scratching the surface of the game)

Agreed whole heatedly. The amazing work that people like Vecko have done is beyond thanks. Made a game with amazing potential, actually amazing.

Hi Guys
The problem with some modders IMO is they have a technical outlook on the game.
This is quite understandable and not a criticism as they possibly look at things totally differently.
By this I mean they do not see the situation in the same way as us lowly peasants.
You will ask a question and you may get a yes or no but what you want is an explanation.
When someone asks a question you do not know whether they have been playing for a day, month, or years.
Some play stock for years and then want to try a modded game and it is totally alien to them.
Many of the PM's I answer are very basic questions which many would not think twice about but they still deserved to be answered in the right way.

I think that is a very grounded and positive view, and IMO hits the nail on the head.
What's really good though, is that now I am hopefully in a good position to assist others going through the maze I just traversed. Its all good karma and its the wealth of knowledge from modders and players alike is what make forums great :)
