Another FNG hello all

Hi everyone,
I recently downloaded Silent Hunter IV from Steam. It's great but I really need some help. I can't understand a lot of how it works. The videos online have helped a bit but I really need a walk through. e.g. I can't understand how a target's course relates to it's bearing toward me etc. I'm in Australia but I grew up in the US and was actually a tour guide on the USS Cod in Cleveland Ohio back in the 80s. I really want to be able to run the boat manually. Is anyone able to Skype with me sometime to spoon feed my ignorance at some stage?
