I'm playing SH3 on steam (I know..) and I was just wondering if the astrology is accurately modeled.

Hey and welcome!

As for astrology, the stars predict Germany will lose the game war, which is very accurate. Sorry, couldn't resist :)

Now for astronomy, the thing is, the game world is a cylinder so everything celestial gets quite a bit wonky when you travel around. Even the sun and moon are mad as hatters in the game world. There have been attempts however to create methods for navigating using the stars (the constellations are visible) but I'm not sure if anyone ever found a good method. Someone might have and I just never heard of it though.

What's the difference between astrology and astronomy?

The celestial bodies are simulated as are constellations etc. however since the SH3 world USA flat Mercator projection their accuracy is greatly reduced especially as you distance yourself from the equator.

Attempts have been made to create mods for celestial navigation however as there is no default latitude and longitude on the map and the SH3 world is flat such attempts have proven troublesome and somewhat inaccurate
