Sooo, everyone iv talked to has told me hen I hover my mouse over the desktop icon it show a path to the folder it's installed in yes? Well I just dicovered when I do that it says steam://rungameid/15200. With this being said I think this may the reason why Sh4 1.4 patch won't download, but how I fix this? Cuz if the 1.4 patch didint catch how do I expect the u boat add on to work?

Steam's version of the Uboat add on, that will only work with Steam's version of SH4, will bring the SH4 1.3 edition that is downloaded from Steam, to a fully upgraded 1.5.

I do not think it is possible, at all, to apply any downloaded 1.4 official Ubi patch to the Steam 1.3 version of Silent Hunter 4.

That's what I'm thinking, steam won't allow a patch from an outside source, so in the end I'll just have to wait till I can get my hands on the add on.

Will it allow other addons, the reason I ask is I have Truck Sim on Steam and I can add things to that, so why is SH different?

I'm not sure, maybe the way the game is written? or its intentional on steams part. oh well ill just have to wait :/

Yes you can add MODS using the JSGME tool for Steam's copy of a patched 1.5 Silenthunter 4. I think there are issues however if you are using MODS with a Steam version of SH5.

I have SH4 1.5 thru Steam and I can use any mod I want without any issues at all.

On a side note, I have no idea, and do not see the logic on Steams part, why they have the 1.3 version of SH4, when 1.4 is the final patch before the paid upgraded patch. :doh:


Even tho Steam's version is 1.3, the paid UBoat 1.5 patch, will bring Steam's version to a fully working 1.5 edition.

Where do you get the paid patch? I clicked on the Amazon square at the top right as I read in another thread but couldn't find the patch when I typed in the search.
I'm not on Steam by the way.

I posted in another thread, it seems I already have v1.5 I just checked in the files and it says it is duh!
Oh well I saved myself some money I would have bought a patch I didn't need lol.
