The cinematography looks great and the movie, interesting. I don't think any movie can accurately capture the horrors that Dunkirk was and I don't think I would want to see a movie that did.
It is an important piece of history though.
Quote: The Dunkirk evacuation, code-named Operation Dynamo, also known as the Miracle of Dunkirk, was the evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, France, between 26 May and 4 June 1940, during World War II. The operation was decided upon when large numbers of Belgian, British, and French troops were cut off and surrounded by the German army during the Battle of France.
In a speech to the House of Commons, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill called the events in France "a colossal military disaster", saying "the whole root and core and brain of the British Army" had been stranded at Dunkirk and seemed about to perish or be captured. In his We shall fight on the beaches speech on 4 June, he hailed their rescue as a "miracle of deliverance

Thanks for the video link. I'm looking forward to it.
On the other hand, I've been looking forward to it since August.

I don't know, but I get the impression that this is entirely focused on the evacuation, yes? The John Mills movie had a good deal of action as his platoon fought their way to the beach, as I recall.

Yep, my understanding too but will be watching it upon its release.

If it can focus on the historical action and be truthful to real events, I think I will like it.
If they "Hollywoodize" it and play around with the truth, insert a love triangle, over-politicize it (especially modern political commentary), etc., I will be much less interested.

I thought I saw something about this, now it's confirmed. I agree with Mike Abberton. I hope it focuses on the event itself and honor the soldiers.

saw the trailer, looks very nice.
Christopher Nolan has made some very good movies, more importantly, he makes very profitable movies and finishes them under budget. Let's face it, that is the only reason WB is financing a WW2 movie that has no american characters or actors in it.
I have no doubt it will be a good movie, whether it will be a good WW2 war movie is another question. Let's hope he has not bitten off more than he can chew.
