I am a happy camper.
One of my all time favourite games was X-com/UFO defense back in 1994. Unfortunately, it does not run very well on modern computers.
There have been several remakes/re-imaginings from both major and indi producers. While some of them have been better than the others, non were the original which I liked. Xcom 2 is coming out but the reviews don't speak to me. All I want is the original game. :wah::wah::wah:
Well, there is a way
(sniff) there is?
I just discovered Open XCOM openxcom.org. It has been out for a few years so maybe I was the only one that did not know about this. But just in case there were other original Xcom/UFO fans out there, check it out.
You need the original game. If you don't have it any more or can't load it from the original disks, Steam has it for $4.99. Download the Open Xcom free software (it is so easy that even I could do it) and you will find yourself related to Robert.
Same cheesy graphics, but this time rendered fullscreen. Same game, but with some slight abilities to customize it. But the end result is the old (aka good) XCOM/UFO game just like you remembered it. :yeah::yeah::yeah:
This is even better than BMAN's modification to XCOM Extraterrestrials. For one thing you are back to playing on earth.
I am a happy camper.
Any other original XCOM/UFO fans out there?
