Forgive my ignorance, I've not been on for ages so forgot what to do lol.
I downloaded USS Independence, from what I can make out it is a playable ship, I've activated it with the JSGME, I can see it listed, but how do I take command of it please?
Any help appreciated thank you.

Wow! 100 views and nobody can help me, does that mean the 100 who have viewed the post don't know?
If so then the guys who made the playable ship/s need to put instructions of how to use it/them, because up to now 101 people don't know and are missing out on your models.

There aren't many of us who have used playable ships. I'm one of them. If a ship can't sink on purpose I'm just not interested.

Hmm... Not interested, then why post and/or tell the model maker/s that, it will save them a lot of time and effort.

I've never used one either. No place to duck and hide to...
If I'm not mistaken (highly likely), most of those mods replace a submarine with the playable vessel, so you need a mission and / or campaign built to use the vessel. You'll most likely have to build your own Single Mission(s) in the Mission Editor. There should be a ReadMe file in those mods where the author explains how to use it. Not always though. If there isn't a ReadMe in there, find another playable ship mod, and read it's ReadMe file.

Modders mostly make mods to make the game do what THEY are interested in. Sometimes there are a lot of people who play the mods and sometimes there are not. But most modders mod for themselves and then think "I wonder if anybody else would be interested in this." Then they post it.
Stuff like our Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate Project, made for the community, is not the norm. But we're weird like that.:D

Thanks Bismark1011, I found an old post by someone else who was having the same problem, funny a newbie said how to do it lol.
I have it working now, but just downloaded from the link above some more ships, bit like the old Destroyer Command sim lol. :yeah:

OK played with a few ships, it was good having the speed and watching something different, but it may have been the ships I tried but I came under attack at one point but I couldn't get any armaments to work, so I tried to run for it but ended up going down lol.
Also a couple more crashed the sim, that wasn't a problem I just deleted them, so what if any ships can I fight back if under attack?
Hi Col,
Glad you posted this. I was wondering the same thing as I was considering downloading some German surface ships. When you finally get everything figured out, please post here about how to use them. It will save a lot of headaches for new folks that way. :salute:
