My brother picked this up for me. It is a ashtray from the USS St. Mary. Not a very notable transport of WW2. She did receive a battle star. What is interesting is how it is engineered. Pulling up the lid allows the butts to drop underneath. I wonder how many Chesterfields or Lucky Strikes were snuffed in this ashtray?
