Hi, my name is Steven. My late grandfather, Lt. Edwin H. Lougher, was an officer aboard the USS Kraken SS-370 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Kraken_(SS-370)) during World War II.
My late uncle, Gary W. Lougher, was a career naval enlisted man that started aboard a nuclear submarine for nine years until he reprimanded for divulging information about the nuclear propulsion system to a potential girlfriend to try to woo her. Afterwards, he was transferred to the conventional powered USS John F. Kennedy, where he remained until he retired as an E-9.

Thank you very much! I am happy to be here!
I loved Silent Service II (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Service_II), it was my game of choice during the early computer days. For its day and the computer I had (a Tandy 1000), it was a superb computer game that was very detailed. I played it until I could no longer play the Tandy, anymore. Eventually, the computers outgrew the game, and I had to try substitutes like 688i, and Seawolf, but they were boring because the world was not at war, and you spent all of your time on there, just, trying to avoid detection.
When I first heard about Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hunter_4:_Wolves_of_the_Pacific), I was hesitant. Yes, I have known about it since its launch in 2007, but I did not want to play it because of the high learning curve. The attention to detail is great, but I am no submariner. After seeing World of Warships (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hunter_4:_Wolves_of_the_Pacific), I was thrilled until I saw the gameplay where everyone is shooting at each other, with little or no tactical prowess. And, there are no submarines, which means you are screwed as soon as you set sail.
War Thunder's (http://warthunder.com/us/registration?r=SEM_AW1946291420_KW000652244&gclid=CO6XzoTNytACFZFefgodNuwBsg) Naval Battles are a joke, with nothing but motorboats with guns and torpedoes trying to speed around and kill each other. The irony of this is that many of their early missions and campaigns that were ported from the Birds of Steel game contain plenty of large surface ships, already in the game, but no submarines.
Anyway, I decided to break down and cry my way into very short Silent Hunter IV campaigns.

Hello, everyone, thank you all for the warm welcome. I know that I am a little late in responding to your greetings, and it is, partly, because I do not have this forum bookmarked. Anyway, Silent Hunter 4 is great if I can get out of Brisbane Harbour (operator error) without sailing into the dock in front of me that would make me happy.
