I am an 84 year old wanabee ace uboat commander. I have the DVD-ROM Silent Hunter 3 version 1.1. A couple of years ago I asked for and received from this forum advice on adding `Grey Wolves`. I then played the game for quite a while before uninstalling it.

I now wish to reinstall and play it again. I have 8 files [Grey Wolves] saved on disc and I know that I firstly need to update my version of SH3 to 1.4.

However, on browsing this forum I find that so many changes/developments have come about that my aged grey matter is completely fuddled and I really am not sure as to how to go about things now. For example I went to Grey Wolves website for Patch 1.4 to be told that it is no longer available, but no alternate advice was offered. On the other hand there is so much stuff on Sub Sim Forum that it leaves my old head spinning and I really don`t know which way I should go for the best.:06:

I would be grateful if some kind soul could tell me how to go about setting up Grey Wolves again from scratch. Incidentally I am still using windows XP.

Thankyou......Ken S. :06:

Hi Ken

Go to the GWX website>support>XP and follow the instructions.

http://test.thegreywolves.com/support/

The patch you require (you must have an old original game disc) can be found via the link below:

http://silenthunteriii.com/uk/updates.php

You need to activate the second option (Ubi.com) in the list below the EMEA DVD Patch 1.4b box.

The patch link is still active, I have just tested it.

Happy Hunting Kaleun.

I'd wondered where you had disappeared to.

Good to see you back sinking merchants.

:Kaleun_Cheers:

PS. I've been to U534 quite a few times now!

Hi.
To be honest I dont know if U534 is still there. I haven`t been that side of the river in years now, and never ever saw her in her `cut up into fancy spruced up sections` anyway.

I think I preferred her in her original whole but damaged and rusty state,
when you could only board her in the company of a guide and carrying a handlamp. Much more exciting and atmospheric I think.

Incidentally, my dad was lost at sea in a `sub`.

Nice to talk with you again.

Ken.
