I have read on how to install GWX 3.0 Gold but no luck. After downloaded the 7 files, and hitting the exe, it says I must have a clean copy.
I bought sh3 from steam yesterday, and installed, but it's not a clean install?
how to make it clean install for GWX 3.0 Gold?

error message: 'Modified files were found. must have clean install and 1.4b patch installed'.
when trying to install 1.4b patch, error message says , 'silent hunter 3\data\menu\de_menu.txt: unknown version

copy the silent hunter 3 folder from your steamapps folder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJaG33aCPHk) to C: or c:\games for example.

If that still doesn't work let me know.

I always use the 'GWX3_FullSingleInstall.exe (http://www.mediafire.com/file/vh596eq1689hqq8/GWX3_FullSingleInstall.exe.1.torrent)' torrent btw to install gwx3.

Have you cleaned up your registry files?

I'm willing to start from scratch.
1. delete SH3 -program files?
2. download steam version (this will be 3rd time)
then what?
don't know what SFSF is?
do I copy all of SH3 from steamapps to c:\games
then run sfsf, whatever that is.
then apply/copy GWE 7 files to c:\games\sh3?

Location of silent hunter 3 : location of sh3

C:\ program files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\silent Hunter 3

Please help
P.S. I have windows 10

I recently managed to get GWX3 Gold installed with Steam SH3, so I'll try to help you based on what I learned.

I'm willing to start from scratch.
1. delete SH3 -program files?
2. download steam version (this will be 3rd time)
then what?

Follow this process carefully!

Open your Steam app
In the Steam app, go to your Steam Library, find "Silent Hunter III" in your list of Steam games, right-click on it and choose "Delete Local Content..." This will un-install SH3.
Close the Steam app.
Go ahead and re-install the Steam version of SH3 in the normal/default location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Silent Hunter 3\
Download SFSF from here (and read about it here too):
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=227473
(download link is in the second post on that page)
Install and run SFSF, which will move your SH3 from Steam to your preferred location (c:\games\sh3):
SFSF is actually very intuitive and easy to handle:

Simply download it, unpack whereever you like and allow it through your security software (Defender? Avast? AVG? Firewall?)
You need an own legal copy of Ubisoft's SH3.
This module is MOD-INDEPENT, you use it BEFORE you choose any mods (I thought that would be self-evident).

After running SFSF as administrator

you point the tool to your installation-path, simply click on the default-path and you can browse your harddrive.
The destination-path is only needed for the STEAM-FiX, since it moves your STEAM-SH3-installation "out of Steam's access" and out of the UAC-controlled directories that many players apparently cannot stop installing to.

Then select which FiX you wish to apply:

Both FiXES perform checks before the actual patch-work:

is the installation-path valid?
is the destination-path valid (only for STEAM-Fix)?
are both directories NOT the same (only for STEAM-Fix)?

Both FiXES give you a final warning and you can abort the action.

Then SFSF ends by submitting the debug-report-file and wishes you a nice day :03:

NOTE: The GFX used are clickable (self-explanatory).

More info about SFSF here (read it!!): http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=227473
Run the GWX3 installer (GWX3.exe) that you've already downloaded *. When the installer asks you to "Select destination location", click 'Browse' and find your SH3 game folder (c:\games\sh3), then go ahead and install GWX3 there.
Read the GWX3 manual, to learn how to use JSGME to set up GWX3 and its optional mods.

* Important! BEFORE you install GWX3, consider if you also want to use S3F (Silent Hunter Front-end):

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=212462

S3F includes a very useful tool called MultiSH3Copy, which allows you to copy your clean (no mods) SH3 game to another location, so that you have a perfect back-up of the game. You can use this back-up to make new copies of the game; you can use those copies to:

play un-modded SH3
re-install GWX3 if you get problems
install other mega-mods (such as Living Silent Hunter III, WAC, NYGM, etc.)
