Hi All,

So I wanted to share a couple of text-based games I'm able to play, which are at least naval in theme. I'm curious if ya'll have any other suggestions.

Under The Gulf (https://archive.org/details/UnderTheGulf_1020) is possibly the most complex sub sim I have access to. it's basically an arcade-style game, inasmuch as there's no extended campaign, and as far as i know the only way to win is to die. You're defending some big splotch of ocean from an unspecified enemy, with a single "supply," ship. You can fight enemy surface ships as well as subs.

The other games i've been messing around with recently are a couple of old Simulations Canada titles, Grey Seas, Grey Skies and Red Sky at Morning. The former is much more tactical in focus, allowing you to control subs and surface ships in small-scale engagements, while the latter is a giant grand strategy game.

I should note that the only reason I'm able to play either of these is that they use the DOS text mode, which my screen readers can access.

I'm curious if anybody else has played any of these, or anything else worth mentioning here?

Have not played them, but I am interested. Would you consider composing a review of one of them for Subsim?

I'm more than happy to write up reviews for some or all of these. :)
