For sale, slightly used Romo. Make offer. :haha::haha::haha::haha:
I guess it's that time of year. Football and Romo getting hurt.
I don't know how the Cowboys are going to deal with the situation with Romo's back problems. A couple more hits like that will turn him into a cripple.

I am scared RGIII will go down already Week 1...
I am really excited for the potential but the game against the Bucs had me petrified throughout his time on the field.

My hope is Da Bears will do better this season

Patriots nation is hoping that Jimmy Garoppolo can hold the line until Number 12 returns in week 5. If we win 3 of 4, or better yet does a sweep, we may be Superbowl bound.

Phillip Rivers may be on his last year with the San Diego Chargers, plus if he can't get the job done the people of San Diego vote November 11th for a new stadium and the win to loss ration may become a factor.
No stadium and the Chargers have the option to bolt to LA :o
Did anyone see the Vikings new stadium Sunday ... wow it is nice and the seats are really close to the field too, nice big screen, nice looking stadium :yep:

Going to be exciting seeing both Josh Gordon and Tom Brady on the field! Hopefully for the Browns, RGIII is still on the field by then!

Dick Butkus gives his views on the Heisman trophy! He tells it like it is!!
http://butkuskillsit.blogspot.com/2016/09/the-heisman-is-over_2.html?spref=fb
Love what he says here-
"The Heisman isn’t even an indicator of success anymore. Anyone still have a Tebow jersey?
There’s a reason people still remember Dick Butkus. There’s a reason we need a Butkus award. We need to celebrate the monsters. We need to celebrate the pissed off alligators doing barrel roles in between you and where you want to go. We need to hail the boxers that won’t leave the middle of the ring.
That’s where the battle is. Butkus winners don’t dance. Except on your cemetery plot they dug after you tried a half-ass off tackle run on 1st down. Enjoy 2nd down.
The Heisman is over. The Butkus hit it so hard it retired. If you want to celebrate a bunch of glass jawed, twelve tool athletes, go to the ballet. Butkus winners have one tool and it’s some form of mental defect that doesn’t allow them to feel like they’ve eaten enough running back. Throw out their shoe contract. They’ll be covered in dirt and you won’t see the logo anyway." :haha::haha:

Here's a grand idea ... the next Super Bowl is number 51 and it just happens that it is being played in Houston, Texas at the NRG Stadium.
Super Bowl Sunday is on February 5th, 2017
Wouldn't it be great if we all flew to Houston on Saturday the 4th for the 20th anniversary celebration of subsim and stayed at Neal's ranch
and then attend the NFL Super Bowl on the 5th.
It's a tad expensive however at $3,600 for the cheap seats and up to $11,000 for the best seats and that's before the teams are announced.
So, what do you think? Neal's place or a hotel/motel nearby and a Sports bar for how many?

I thought the shipping container was your home and the 18 wheeler is where you roam :)
Oh well it was a good idea, but I think the motel/hotels will be full anyway, plus flying in and out of Houston would be a pain during Super Bowl.
What about those two ships (one submarine and one DE) in Galveston would they let people stay on them for a couple of days for a sizable donation? All we would need is a lunch truck and a digital antenna for the game (50) miles away?

Okay, I was wrong again this is starting to get embarrassing.
The Chargers lost to Tampa Bay who just happened to be a big conference contest with Atlanta for first place. Atlanta also lost to KC by a fluke play of going for two (2) points and the pass was intercepted giving KC the victory by one point (first time in NFL history by the way)
So the Chargers only have one more hope that they win all the rest of their four game schedule and the other teams all lose.
Panthers, Oakland, Cleveland and Kansas City are the last four games, but KC and Oakland play this Thursday night and that will put KC down to four loses and then they still have to play Denver and San Diego ... with me so far?
No way will Denver lose three more games to tie San Diego at the hopeful 9-7 leaving Oakland as the winner of the AFC western conference and KC would have to lose three more game (three out of their last four to wind up 9-7).
So Oakland will win and probably be 14-2
KC could lose three more and be 10-6
Denver could lose three more and be 9-7 in a tie with
San Diego Chargers at 9-7 and who knows how that would all turn out.

Steelers get caught deflating footballs, NFL pulls an Obi-Wan Kenobe and claims there is nothing to see here and to move along.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/why-did-nfl-handle-steelers-deflated-balls-story-so-much-differently-than-deflate-gate-212610332.html
Maybe there’s nothing to this thing. Perhaps on a cold day, a few balls lost some air. The NFL might not have known that this phenomenon occurred before deflate-gate, but it most certainly does (candidly, anyway) now. Hey, whatever did it find in those random spot checks, anyway?

At any rate, there is no doubt Brady is the best QB the game has seen so why deflate balls, record the other team secretly and other assorted craziness to win games when it is not needed?

Tantrums? Is that what you say when you want to try and shame people into shutting up about an injustice? Well you had better get used to them because Patriots nation is never ever going to let this go until Goodell is canned and the league apologizes for besmirching the reputation of our team with false charges. If anything this Steeler incident and the leagues reaction or lack thereof only proves it.
Because a "gotcha moment" assumes that the NFL actually had a case which it did not by a long stretch. That is why Judge Berman originally vacated the suspension. The truth is the league conducted a highly flawed and biased "investigation" (read witch hunt) that ignored the scientific facts (see Ideal Gas Law). The subsequent appeal and reinstatement of the suspension was never about the merits of that case but whether the PA allowed the league to do whatever they wanted regardless of the facts which it does. Had it been about actually proving their ridiculous charges they would have laughed out of court and you know it.
And what about the random pressure testing the league was supposed to introduce that was going to prove the leagues claim? Why are they keeping the results a secret? Why are they being so quick to dismiss the Steelers incident? Could it be because they actually prove the Patriots innocence? I think it does and there will be no peace until the league comes clean.

Yes, tantrums. Brady throws his helmet and towel on the bench huffing as he did in the first quarter with the Ravens? This as a result of his receiver missing the catch or a ref call did not go out for interference. It is a poorly executed play. Brady's reaction is not what I call passion for the play. Just one man's opinion.
And for the record....I would love to have Brady as QB for the Ravens. :)
Concerning deflate gate, something must have been found hence the game suspensions. It can not be laughable as Brady accepted the suspensions. I do not know much more about it other than he took the suspensions. Also, illegal recordings of the the opposing team was confirmed as well. The only difference here is the Patriots got caught. I'm certain other teams do a lot of things(cheating) unbecoming good sportsmanship. It comes down to getting caught I guess.
The Steelers and proving innocence appears to a conspiracy theory perhaps? The Patriots might want to make peace about it as they will be scrutinized much more closely. Just human nature.

You gave me the impression the tantrums comment was in regards to deflate gate. Now it's about a players in game reaction to something completely different. I won't defend or criticize a player showing a little emotion on the side lines.
And for the record....I would love to have Brady as QB for the Ravens. :)Never! Pats fans would break his arms before we let him put on a purple jersey! :)
Concerning deflate gate, something must have been found hence the game suspensions. It can not be laughable as Brady accepted the suspensions. I do not know much more about it other than he took the suspensions. He had no choice but to take the suspensions. He went to court to stop them and he did manage to delay them for over a year. He even got a judge to toss the suspension out because the leagues case against him was laughably weak, but the league pointed out in their court appeal that the way the Player Agreement is written they don't have to make their case. The PA allows them to pronounce summary judgement and penalize players as much as they want without having to prove anything. If the league wanted they could suspend every member of the Ravens for as many games as they want with no reason at all. It's something that ought to be changed and i expect will be the next time they negotiate a new PA but that's how it reads now.
Also, illegal recordings of the the opposing team was confirmed as well. The only difference here is the Patriots got caught. I'm certain other teams do a lot of things(cheating) unbecoming good sportsmanship. It comes down to getting caught I guess. They had just instituted the rule the year before that you can't film from the sideline. Move the camera 10ft back into the 1st row of the stands and it's (still) legal. In any case it was wrong and they paid a huge price for it. But I guess they can never pay enough if it's still going to be held over our heads almost a decade later.
The Steelers and proving innocence appears to a conspiracy theory perhaps? The Patriots might want to make peace about it as they will be scrutinized much more closely. Just human nature.Meh, the Patriots are scrutinized far more closely than any other team already. As long as they keep winning I figure the league will continue to find or invent excuses to trip them up. But that's ok, we don't mind being the bad boys of the league as long as we keep bringing home those Belich,... err i mean, Lombardi trophies! :D

Well I suppose it's possible although Brady is certainly not alone in the emotion department. After all didn't Payton Manning chew out 70,000 fans because they were being too loud? But I figure it's more likely the Pat's winning ways. Looser teams are strongly motivated to come up with excuses and nobody want's to explain to their fan base that their team just sucks.

It may be the "winning ways" that got the team in this position. Although some of the ways are good. Defensive coordinator is very good. Kept the Ravens offense guessing.
It may be the "winning ways" that got the team in this position. Although some of the ways are good. Defensive coordinator is very good. Kept the Ravens offense guessing.
By winning ways I mean:
Since Bill Belichick was hired as the team’s head coach in 2000, the Patriots have finished first or second in the AFC East every year except Belichick’s first season, with both second-place finishes caused by tiebreakers. Over that time, they have won four Super Bowls, six AFC Championship Games, and thirteen AFC East titles, while amassing a regular season record of 175–65. The team's quarterback over that same period, Tom Brady, has been awarded the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player three times; he is one of only four men named Super Bowl MVP more than once.
The Patriots under Belichick have won four Super Bowl championships (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, and XLIX). They also played in and lost Super Bowls XX, XXXI, XLII, and Super Bowl XLVI. During the 2007 regular season, the Patriots became the only NFL team in history to win 16 games, and the first since the 1972 Miami Dolphins (in a 14-game season) to complete the regular campaign undefeated. Belichick’s Patriots are one of only two teams to win three Super Bowls in four years (the other being the Dallas Cowboys from 1993 to 1996).

Nick Saban?
I couldn't find anywhere else to put this and I didn't want to start a new thread, plus Nick Saban use to be an NFL coach.
Did ya'll see that National College playoff game last night?
What a game, but it sure made a lot of people happy that Alabama and Nick Saban lost.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/01/10/nothing-better-than-watching-alabama-lose-why-millions-rejoiced-at-coach-nick-sabans-loss-to-clemson/?utm_term=.48f41b559bad
In sports, fans often love to see a winner lose. There’s great satisfaction in watching the team on top tumble. And on Monday, that’s exactly what happened. An underdog came out of nowhere and disrupted the status quo.
And people couldn’t be happier.
I think it's plain that firing his offensive coach had something to do with it:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2017/01/10/nick-saban-offensive-coordinator-steve-sarkisian-lane-kiffin/96382196/
Alabama coach Nick Saban admitted that changing offensive coordinators the week of the national championship game was challenging but that he wouldn’t have changed anything about the offense’s preparation after the Crimson Tide lost 35-31 in a thrilling title game Monday night.

Ravens/Steelers on Christmas day. A day of peace, love and caring....NOT on Heinze Field!!!!!
It could have been worse and been a Steelers and Bengals playoff game. I remember the one from last year.
I'm not sure if anyone saw the Penn State and USC game On Jan 2nd in the Rose Bowl. USC won 52-49. There wasn't much defense on either side but It was one of the most entertaining football games I have ever watched, pro or college.

Letter from the owner of the (old) San Diego Chargers: http://www.chargers.com/news/2017/01/12/letter-dean-spanos
After much deliberation, I have made the decision to relocate the Chargers to Los Angeles, beginning with the 2017 NFL season.
San Diego has been our home for 56 years. It will always be part of our identity, and my family and I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the support and passion our fans have shared with us over the years.
But today, we turn the page and begin an exciting new era as the Los Angeles Chargers

http://deadspin.com/gamblers-turn-300-bet-on-packers-into-more-than-28-00-1791285283
ESPN’s Brett McMurphy caught up with two gamblers who have made quite a bit of money off the Green Bay Packers’ recent winning streak. Back in November, when the Packers were 4-6 and coming off a blowout loss to Washington, Brian Yankelevitz and Russ Axelrod decided to bet $300 on the Packers winning their next game against the Eagles. Their plan from the start was to let the bet ride as long as the Packers kept winning, and now they have a ticket worth $28,213.60.
because gamblers are deranged. Instead, they are going to put all $28,213.60 on the Packers to beat the Falcons in the NFC championship game, and if they win that bet, they will put all of those winnings on the Packers to win the Super Bowl.

I am a 49ers fan, poor me, and I know just about every other NFL team is better than mine. But the 49ers have and will continue to have the best soap opera in all of professional sports as long as Jed-y York and his personal idiot Paraag Mareethe run the team.

The Pac-12 doesn't know what defense is. So it's funny when they (cupca....I mean Pac-12 team) play a team that has a real defense. (see ore-gone ducks vs any SEC team).
I've washed my hands off college football and don't follow it anymore. They need some serious reform before I'll take it serious again.
It's joke and should have been posted in the joke-thread, however it's about NFL and being addicted to this game.

With a whole half to go even I sorta thought it was premature; although I still don't get 'sudden death' in a 'timed period' game. It should go the whole OT period as in basketball. Amazing comeback...(as refs are meticulously examining air pressure on all balls:O:)!

Whatever it's Football, Handball, Ice hockey or in this case NFL, there will always be situation where a team so to say mentally and psychology "Think they already have won the match" even though the match itself isn't over-The referee hasn't blown the (forgot the word)
I assume somewhere in 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl a feeling of
"Yea we have won" occurred in the mind the players in Atlanta.
It's very difficult to restart again, as people could see in yesterdays Super Bowl.

Yep. To break it down in more detail their biggest mistakes imo were:
A. If you're up by 25 points at the end of the 3rd quarter it's time to start running the ball to eat up the clock. They're getting on average 5-6 yards per carry but for some strange reason Atlanta kept passing which shortened their possessions down to a couple of minutes and gave Tom Terrific time to come back.
B. Not kicking the game winning field goal with less than 5 minutes in the 4th quarter when they had the chance. They're at the 25 yard line, well within range and they still kept throwing the ball! That results in an incomplete pass, then a 10 yard sack, then a 10 yard holding call and suddenly they're backed up too far and they have to punt.
That's damn poor coaching right there. They should have run the ball three times which would have advanced them a few more yards and ate up the clock then kicked the three pointer which would have put them beyond the Patriots reach.
I just hope the San Francisco 49ers reconsider hiring Kyle Shanahan because the Atlanta players didn't loose that game their coaching staff did.

My daughter asked me right after the Falcons went ahead 25-3 in the 3rd quarter, "Dad, do you think the Patriots have a chance?" I relied, "There is only a slim chance they can score 25 points and keep Atlanta from scoring again. But if they do, you will remember this game for the rest of your life. And you can say you witnessed an incredible comeback."

Good analysis. I figured Atlanta considered the game won and relaxed the pressure they stymied Brady with in the first half, or the Patriots made a good second half adjustment, or Atlanta just pooped out, or all of the above. Anyway, it was like watching two shorter games almost.

I just saw this Markus. :har: I saw an ad in the paper a while ago that read " For sale, Beautiful wedding dress. Used once by mistake.
As far as the Patriots and Atlanta. August, you said Atlanta was poorly coached in not turning to the running game to eat up the clock. All things being equal, you are right except that the Patriots made adjustments and the Falcons weren't able to run effectively after that. The Falcons had to pass and as you said, this gave the Patriots the room to mount a comeback and do what they do best. I was wondering why the Falcons weren't throwing the underneath stuff and taking maybe 4-5 yards a pop. It's not dramatic but it moves the chains and runs out the clock.

Wow! What a game ... the greatest come back game and the greatest OT game and the greatest Super Bowl game ever played.
I almost went to bed at 28-9 after the missed extra point, but listen to this without that missed extra point the game would not have been the greatest game ever played even if they came back with two more touchdowns.
because of the extra point missed they had to go for two on the last two touchdowns in regular play to tie the game.
The only thing that would make the Super Bowl better than this one is for the LA Rams and the LA Chargers to play in the Super Bowl in their new stadium in Industry City being built right now and still has two years to go to be the Super Bowl stadium.
Congratulation New England and August being the only New England fan I know

I hear what you're saying about adjustments, Belichick is a master at it, but the Falcons should still have kept at the ground game. Especially in that 4th quarter drive where they backed themselves out of field goal range. If hey had they might not have got anywhere but they would have avoided the sack and the penalty and still been able to put the score beyond the Patriots reach.

Breaking: NFL will force Stephen Ross to sell the Miami Dolphins
Read more at http://cover32.com/2017/04/01/breaking-nfl-will-force-stephen-ross-sell-miami-dolphins/#t34YBRvh3KZKmrhI.99
In a shocking twist, the NFL has announced and unanimously voted to force Stephen Ross to sell the Miami Dolphins. The breaking news comes less than a week after Ross voted against the Raiders move to Las Vegas and later released a statement against public funding being used for stadiums and putting the fans first.
Holding a press conference after the vote was held over skype, Roger Goodell confirmed the news and also gave a brief, one-hour statement to support the owners stance. The biggest points of this though was the league’s reaction and tough push back on owners that refuse to fall in line and get with the program.
