I have GW gold mod and SH3 commander installed (SH3 steam edition) but the real boat names do not show when selected. I have had them show on 1 patrol only.
I've tried:-
Different campaigns (pre-mod install and post-mod)
Installed SH3 commander in the program file(x86) and program file.
I have the box ticked before anybody asks :-).
Any ideas?
Can post some screenshots tomorrow if required.
Sorry if this has been brought up before.
They only show at the end of the patrol after you exit and update your patrol in SH3 Commander.

Thanks HW3 but that doesn't work for me strangely, it did once but not anymore which is what has stumped me. Maybe it's Windows 10 :/\\!!.
I think what I will do is try install SH3 commander and GW mod on a fresh install and see how that goes. It worked once on the program files (X86) folder so I'm going to install to that again.
I will let you know how I get on pass or fail.
Good luck and fair seas :salute:

@Scorp10n
Do not install in either programs x86 or programs. Create a new dir ie. C:\GWX or such. Installing in either programs or x86 will lead to all sorts of privilege issues. You might want to try looking at the install guide here:

Good luck shipmate.

Thank you for all your kind welcomes and help.
You're all correct saying that they won't work in the program files/program x86 files.
I will try follow the links attached and let you know regardless.
Out of interest and I know it may not be relevant to the thread but what mods do you guys suggest?
Thank you.

This is an older thread now and the OP has taken down all of his pictures, but most of the links are still valid and it's a good sample of what is available for SH3.

Thank you. I shall take a look through.
I have had no luck with getting the game to work out of the steam folder.
I installed via steam download.
Copied the SH3 folder to C:/Games/ tried to run but no success. Sh3.exe does not like it for some reason.
I'll take another look over the weekend and see how I get on.
Also I've somehow managed to turn my forum language to German!

I think I have it - seems to give the boat names albeit with a small time lag.
Create a folder in C:\GWX (for example as per Fubar).Have steam install the game into C;/ folder by setting it up to do so in Steam>Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders C:\GWX,
Install mods as required.
I'm going to try a auto roll back patrol and leave it for a while and see what happens. If not I think you need to just leave the auto roll back off and go from there.

edit-Works with autoroll back on. It appears to only update for me when I update the personal file and open it. After that I can see the ships names.
Thank you you all for your help.
