The greenland shark is way cool, one of the "living fossiles" in the sea, one of a very few species of shark that live in arctic waters, one of the biggest and one of the goofiest looking around. Gotta love them.

Pretty amazing stuff. I watched a show about them a few years ago where they were tagging them to gather more info. One they caught ended up in pretty bad shape so was euthanized. Most likely ended up being used in the study.

One animal, being somewhere between 270 and 510 years old. I just cannot get over this so easily...

The German article where I found it, said these fishes swim 1.2 km - per hour. Only in times of stress and alarm twice as fast. They become sexually mature at the age of 150 years.
