I know this was asked before, but I had the bookmark on my other pc (currently down).

Did anyone ever make a Gato/Balao/Tench for SH3?
I remember reading some subsim posts that sh3 won't do the 10 torpedo tubes, but I was not concerned with that anyway.

Worst case senario would it be possible to 'convert' the AI Gato/Balao Subs in GWX 3 over to playable?

Although, the Narwal/Nautilus only had 6 tubes (I think). What U-47 (??? I forget, it's late.) did with the Warship mod, I think adding an additional deck gun would be simpler than trying to add 2 torpedo tubes.

Anybody know of one?
Any Thoughts on the matter?

I knew I should have mentioned this in the OP, but it was late and I forgot...

Only way currently that I can get SH4 is through steam...

but based on some reviews that I read on steam, although patch-able, it won't work with some of the larger mods. (Probably due to Steam checking the files before launch.)

Ok, I guess I'll see if I can start with the GWX3 AI hulls and "migrate" them over to the IXB/C/D slots and see what I can do...

Main reason is, I rarely ever play a Type 7, (although I may swap the Gato/Balao to the 7B/7C slots) mainly because of the number of torpedoes carried. Although the 2nd stern tube, the larger deck gun, and the faster surfaced speed all add to the package.

But more than that: the 9D2 simply handles the stormy weather better.

I like BIG submarines. :)

If I want compact, I'll take a Type II.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

After thinking about this, what little I have (very busy lately), I'm thinking rather than convert the Gato/Balao AI subs, I may try to 'rework' a Type IX.

"Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology..... Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster."

Sorry, I'm showing my age.:nope:

Basic idea, I'm thinking, is "what if" Germany had built a 'fleet' type submarine?

My biggest "if" is that I have to run S3D through WINE, have to check and see if it works on the current version.
Wouldn't be the first time one of my mods has stalled due to updates... :/\\!!

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Would anybody be interested in trying the boat when I'm done?

Please note this post is mainly me "thinking out loud".
I like an accurate enviroment and physics model, but main thing I like about PC games, is the endless possibilities of "what if".
