Strange one this. Just finished first patrol using SH3 Commander and GWX ; exited game and then reloaded SH3 Commander, to manage crew and promotions etc.
Funny thing is its allowing me to give every crew member any medal, qualification and promotion I want to !
Know its nice to have every compartment full of the appropriate crewmen ; but its obviously a great big 'cheat' and I am not happy with it.
Remember SH3 Commander years ago would only allow you to give one or two promotions, medals and qualifications after each patrol.
What dumb thing have I done this time ?
Thanks in advance to all you fine people.
Andrew.

You haven't done anything dumb, but I think you are misremembering. The stock game only allows one or two promotions or medals per patrol. Commander has always allowed you to give out as many of each as you like.
I don't consider it a cheat, at least where qualifications are concerned, because as I've said before, there is no such thing as an "unqualified" petty officer. The qual is what makes him a PO in the first place.
As for the others, a captain can recommend any crewmember for a medal or promotion he feels like. Of course he needs to prove the man's worth to his superiors, or it won't work. The problem I always had with the stock game is that sometimes you can't give out a medal when you think someone deserves it. This is especially true of Wound Badges. If a man is wounded but is healed before the patrol ends you can't give him the medal because he's not wounded anymore. With Commander you can still give him the medal.

Well okay Steve, but as far as I remember SH3 Commander running with GWX3 would only allow a couple of crew member upgrades, etc. after each patrol that you completed, and dependent on renown.
Although I am talking about a few years ago ; am sure that was how SH3 Commander operated.
Pretty ridiculous if you can give every crewman what you want.
Like I said, I have done something dumb ; yet again .
Have had a good look though the SH3 Commander options, but nothing stands out.
Any ideas, let me know bud.
Andrew.
Andrew, Steve is right the stock game limits you, commander does not.

Thank you for your very prompt reply. Its appreciated mate.
I am absolutely certain that SH3 Commander would not allow this quite a few years back. It is downright stupid in my opinion.
If it does now allow this option ; (in my case yes), then I will have to seriously consider a complete uninstall/re-install.
It just is not right. Andrew.

Well, Herr Kaleun...
A commander that doesn't command you may be strange, but does anybody force you to give medals and assignments, just because you're “allowed” to do it?
Be a self controlled, free decision maker and do what you think is appropriate.
And if you think, it would be some kind of cheating - and you refuse to do so, simply deny you the cheat and rule yourself.
We see some sort of anarchy here - the absence of rulership - and you are obviously not used to it and slightly overchallenged. :03:
Freedom as a burden...

Appreciate exactly what you are saying Mittel, about having self-control when using the SH3 Commander interface and upgrading your crew and so on.
But I really cannot remember using SH3 Commander with GWX3 and having this option.
Maybe I am just growing old and starting to have 'senior moments'. :hmmm:.
Vielen Danke for your reply mate. Andrew.

You can still use the ingame success related function for assigning qualifications and medals, even with SH3 Commander installed.
:yep:

Hell yeah Mittel !.........
That sounds like how I remembered playing SH3 all that time back.
I must have forgotten about that option. Thanks for your input mate.
A big thank you for all who replied to my OP.
Andrew.
