Hello everyone!!
Some of you may remember me, some not. The last time I played SH was back in 2010. I produced some YouTube videos on how to use the Enigma machine.

When I left SH, SH5 was in its infancy and didn't offer much other than eye candy. I came across my old SH5 game box last night and have decided to dive in once again. The major difference this time is that i'll be buying SH5 fresh from Steam.

I've been watching a video on YouTube of a mod called "Wolves of Steel" (TheNorseCast, thank you sir.) is this the equivalent of GWX for SH3?

Basically if you guys could point me in the right direction for the best mega mod, and must-not-be-missed mods for a Steam copy of SH5, I would really really appreciate that.

Hope you are all doing fantastic, jimbuna if you are still here and read this. Hello Captain! :salute:

Hello there!

The Wolves of Steel (TWoS) mod sounds like the perfect place to start. There is however an issue related to Steam, in that the patching procedure is different than for the DVD version of the game. Hope that the TWoS thread gets you started, it's all there!

Good hunting!

Thank you rainiere! The problem I have is that my PC no longer has an optical drive so I cannot install my DVD copy.

I presume the instructions to follow to get the mod to work with the Steam version are these? Once I have done this are there any more steps?

Yes, your are correct. Unfortunately I myself do not own the Steam version so I'm afraid I can't offer any insight there. You *might* also want to consider buying the download version from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hunter-Battle-Atlantic-Download/dp/B003BVIXWW) (as I have seen mentioned on Subsim). Hope this helps!
