Saving Game,Saves Tanker

Just for the Record, Get a contact long range ,chase it half the night ,find its a Cimmeran class tanker doing 12 knots ,I,m on Standard propulsion with 3 fish ready ,gets close enough to try and slow it down by letting one los, instead of hitting the stern ,it hits the Port bow and sets it on fire ,get the gun crew to action stations with only 8 AP shells left , SO I DO the shooting,5 shells hit the superstructure and make it a terrible shambles and blazing . She starts slowing down to 5 knots . Then all hell breaks out at home so have to save and exit,(uplay is disabled ) Next time I go on the game, Blow me if the tankers not doing 12 knots again with all Fires OUT. There,s gotta be someone up there that likes Tankers .2 torps left ( I sank the Lord Nelson with 2 torpedoes ) so if I can get them in the right place I might be able to send her down . No luck I,m afraid both missed , you can,t get them right all the time , That's the game when on 100% realism and real navigation Ahhhhh verdammpt , Great game though H:D

never save near destroyed ships, convoys, or any in game ships / airplanes u have pretty high chance to get a corrupted save game

You could have paused the game and then just minimized it.
Using the Power Options and hibernation may also have been an option?

Thanks to you both ,I did,nt know about that possibility Peter, will read your How Tos , Also it has definitely happened before when I,ve had to leave a wounded vessel, I was just about to go in for an attack with the 2 remaining torpedoes when I left the game, bit of a shock when I came back to see it pulling away.
