Can't patch to 1.4b

My SH3 installation was performed years ago (yes, this is a very old computer) from DVD (which had Starforce). I used the Starforce removal tool back then, but apparently forgot to patch the game to 1.4b. I have just downloaded the patch, but attempting to install it gives an error message that the version of MissionEngine.dll cannot be identified and installation fails! Does anybody have an idea as to how to correct this, or what can be done about it? I was about to order a new DVD from Amazon, but one of the customer reviews mentions the same error message and that the patch cannot be applied. Does the same problem (or any others, such as adding GWX or other mods) exist for the Steam version of SH3? Any help appreciated.

Hi KeybdFlyer first thing you need to do is find out what the Silent Hunter 3 Version is you can do this by just moving your mouse pointer over the SH3 exe a little box pops up look at File Version if it says 1.4.0.1 then all is good & trying to patch a already patched SH3 you would get that Error message so if you need to patch your SH3 theres 4 Possible patches for what ever vesion of the game
you have

4. EMEA DOWNLOAD ( FOR DOWNLOADED VERSION OF THE GAME) USA

Many thanks for that blackswan40. I didn't know that, interesting. In game all I saw was that it shows 1.4 down at the bottom right of the menu screen, so I assumed it wasn't patched. I really should get another DVD though, I haven't seen my originals for a few years now! Thanks once again. :up:
